Thanks Jon
The new boat they are talking about was supposed to run at Coniston records week, there are a couple of speeds shown but nothing that would count as a record, the last entry on the list just says (started timing). Just looking for more info on how the new boat ran.

Ah right, I see.

Let us know if you find anything out (assuming no one here knows)

Is the new boat a Lorne Campbell design?

UIM froze the outright electric record Thursday morning for some reason. Rumour has it the Loney camp were understandably upset. Time will tell if anything gets sorted out. New boat I believe is a Ringwood. Talking to Chris everything was very last minute and they ran out of power on the return run. They just wanted to test and come back next year with a sorted package. Coookeee, looking at our video for the record run, vs your video, we are very very stable, with hardly any wobble, so you and Ana were talking pooh!

I admit to remembering that conversation, but it does show that the V24 appears to be more stable in a crosswind.

The v24 does look good no stability problems at all, but I wonder if Cookee's boat is gaining lift also from the rather rigid tubes trapping air thereby gaining 2-3mph and as the air escapes on either side it reduces pressure causing it to rock from side to side...perhaps this record was the final nail in the coffin for tricky's engine as I see the pictures of it being towed in at the weekend sounds expensive

Marc, you canot compare like for like until you get to the same speed with the same horsepower
Love the "vapor trail" off your wings

With a lower centre of gravity, heavier boat and contra rotating propellers the V24 should be more stable?
If you want to compare “like for like” then the volumetric Froude number is a good place to start:
Fnv=U/sqrt(g*volume^(1/3))
Where U is boat speed in m/s
g = 9.81 m/s2
volume = boat weight in kg/density of water

No - it was not a like for like or comparison test. It was a conversation between my Navigessor - Ana and Mr Cookkkeeeeee - who were of the opinion that the V24 wobbled a lot more than the BananaShark during the run, and Mr Coookee corectly said that chine walking ( wobble )scrubs speed and I could have gone faster if I learned to control the wobble.

My argument - which I lost on the day - was that I was holding the boat stable, and although I was jerking the stearing wheel a lot during the run, the net result was a stable boat. Ana and Cookeeeeeeee were of the opinion that I was chine walking.

Roll the video - The V24 is stable as hell during the run. After passing the end marker buoy, I relax the controls a degree, and the boat does chine walk and wobbles till we slow down. So this may have been what they were on about, Cookee only seeing that end part of the run from the shore, and Ana only remembering me fighting the wheel during the run.

As per the video I had the boat under control during the actual run.

So.... I did not have the issue of chine walk during the run that I was faulted with in the pub that evening.

Thank Fuc for the video!!!

Mine had awful handling with uncontrolable chine roll over about 85 but you would'nt think so looking at the vid.
Look how stable A19 is though !! 70mph & only 130hp.

Yes well done to Jeremy - he tried all week to get 70 and was so close for so long - he deserved it!

Yes, I thought that. looks great the way that front step is hanging just off the water, perfectly balanced. very nice run. Respect.

I thought Cookee looked like an accident waiting to happen! ...but respect for the speed!
