P1 Naples

Results for SuperSport at:

http://www.extremeboat.com/racerepor...ace_Report.htm

Had to endure several renditions of the Italian national anthem this weekend, so will have to improve the British results for Germany

Sad to see OSG go over. Goes to show how tough the competition with be this season! Pictures below of her being recovered on Saturday.

They then took the boat away, and it raced again on Sunday (although a lot slower) ... pretty impressive to get it going again so quickly.

Used to be "Lightning Strikes" in the US

James Shepherd seem to have bagged the most supportive sponsor in the business. 'King of Shaves' have stayed with him all through the Honda championships, Class 1, and now P1. Although I still recon his Fountain Powerboat looks like an old Provee thats had another engine stuck in it.!!!!!!!!! But only from the front.

Watched the Naples race. Some really good close racing going on. Looked like James Sheppard used some Honda tactics on one or two occasions which seemed to work well on a couple of corners. Shame about OSG going over, but they did well to get out the next day.
I thought Shelley did a better job too.

Nice to see the new unbeatable boat on the block is British not bloody Italian for a change!!!
Although the Rollypolly Hotels ******** is pretty good. Must be its questionable heritage!!!

But best of all................................Shelly Jory has stopped saying ACTUALLY every two seconds. If someone could just tell them that we have had two seasons of the silver Metamarine boat being called Triton not Treeton and that the new change in pronunciation is really giving me the right hump would be good.
Its now a lot more betterer well done Sky Sports for ironing out the gremlins of Malta's coverage.

Sorry to bring this up but.....credit where credit is due, the Chauuuuudron 41
is a legitimate open cockpit supersport boat, it is at least 10ft longer than any Phantom & has a stepped hull. Lets all move on from the slagging off Chauuuudron crap, they seem to have developed and made a class boat, which is getting results, right out of the box. Seems a shame that if J fuller was right about Mr Bakers genius, how come he did not build such a boat!!
Sorry to be so fair but controversial. About time credit was given, where deserved.

Seem to remember J Fuller taking the piss out of Kinfast, re his rough sea driving at LH last year.....we were racing in 5/6m seas in Malta. Those on the beach should not make critisisms.

luv G

For what it’s worth, I think the 41 Chuffer looks to be a very pretty boat and YES it is a stepped hull. But if you are going to try and ignite Jons fuse; at least come up with something a little more substantial by way of comment than that waffle:

Correct, I believe each section has been lifted directly from a 28's rearend

"Developed"............ hmm, I think thats a fairly contentious point.

Indeed it is, do you beleive they'd be getting results so soon had they designed, plugged & built thier oiwn boat from scratch? If so, why use bits of someone elses hull?

What an outright silly question! I most probably suspect due to a lack of wealthy Italians handing over huge wedges of cash.

It seems that the IP address of the poster, resolves to Malta!

Appologies to 'ForTwo' for my reaction.

If indeed that was Paul Howes (Kinfast) posting using your username from Malta last night, it shows that he still feels desparately under-credited/valued, as far as his ability as a powerboat racer and as an asset to the sport of Powerboat Racing.

Unhappy that no one else will blow his trumpet for him, he took control of the trumpet, to give himself a well deserved pat on the back. What a star (and a dreamer).

Well done Paul, you really are quite 'special', aren't you. ('Special needs' that is)

For what it's worth, I too think the new 41 looks pretty nice, just a shame they couldn't have wiped the slate completely clean, and designed/built something totaly new/fresh/their own, from the ground up. That would be very cool.
Had they done that, who could possibly diss it? Not me, that's for sure......Ho Hum.

For anyone who did not see this article ... worth a read. A very funny take on powerboat racing from the Daily Mail

http://www.extremeboat.com/Press/new...scutting51.htm

Miles tops charts in rock and roll band

"They looked like an ageing rock band. As the crew of Wettpunkt.com talked COG - that's centre of gravity - with the long-haired, bejewelled Italian defending champions from OSG ahead of the opening P! Powerboat grand prix o the season in Malta, they could have been mistaken for a Status Quo tribute band."
