Final call for entries now like the RMYC if we don't get enough to cover our costs then we'll have to cancel too

Cut off will be Monday the 11th at 17.00.

Just so people get an air of costs we have a £395 Insurance for the event, £600 for the crane then there is safety boat fuel, medical staff, calibrated clocks etc so to set up a records event for 1-2 days you're looking at the best ppart of £2K hence Verytricky's earlier comments that this type of event is 'value for money'

Thanks to all those who have shown interest, but if we were in a position to meet our costs i.e. 14 club entries or 10 other entries then I'm sure some form of rebate could be possible.

If it is on, I am definately still in.

If it is cancelled, can you let us know ASAP by the deadline, as I would then go to Portugal for the V24 event there. It is the same weekend! My priority was the P2P, and if it is cancelled, Ana wants to go drive boats in the heat and sun. There are seven V24 boats there, including the 'tweaked' V1, so I can actually race against other boats!

( it takes four days to get there, and the first race is Friday! )

From what I hear you dont need a Navigessor. 38 laps of a two mile triangular course... Bloody hell. I would sooo much rather do the Pier to Pier record atempt!

Rebate Schmebate. If you have ebough entries to make a bit, hold on to it make up for some of the previous (and no doubt future) events that have made a loss.

Weather was horrible for most of the day, flat as a bloody pancake!! I think Conniston was rougher! We did two runs, and we were almost a mile off the record. Really horrible, the boat just sucked down into the sea. We even changed props from the 'record set' ( 5000RPM ) to the 'race set' ( 4750 RPM ) hoping to get more lift. but there was little difference between the props..

Then we got lucky!

The wind picked up and we got in an excellent run right at the end of the day! The sea state was perfect for the V24, about 2 foot popple and chop, no swell at all - the most perfect sea for the boat. We did a blast, and it went very well, and they offered us another final run as we had done very well. The final run was all hanging out, balls to the wall, and we improved our first 'final' run by 1 mile!!! ( Using the still fitted race props - not the record props! )

Overall, it was a really great day.

We were even able to change the props whilst at sea in the bay - thank you to the safety boats for carrying the props and spanners out for us ( and yes, *both* sets of props were checked by the scruteneers...

Everyone who was part of this event bent over backwards to ensure that we got what they wanted. It was really 'competitor oriented' and a great day - no matter what the actual result!

We had a great 'back to back' prop test, ( loads of information the take back to the prop man) and later, just as the day was ending, we smashed the record......

V24 British National Speed Record now stands at 79.4 mph

Our very first run was in the 74's with the 'record props' and our second run was in the 75's iwth the 'race props' but not on the record. Our third run ( supposedly the final run of the day ) was in the 78's

It was really nice to be allowed to do a final final run. And we were told that we should push it a bit on the final run!

Well done Marc & Anna, was really good to see (and hear) you on the record run yesterday. You were a great hit with the kids too, I think there are about 6 V24 drivers for the future there..

The speed recorded was excellent but is provisional and will be ratified soon.

I can tell you that everytime you went past bournemouth pier the public seamed to surge towards the end to see what was going on so you could say you're a crowd puller too!!!!

Well Done,

John

Actually, I had a full english and several cups of coffee! Then I only had to load three bags of lead shot into the boat.... With Ana being sooo tiny I can afford to eat several full english's before we hit weight problems...

Such is life.....

We still had a very very excellent prop test. We have a load of info on the revs and speed for each set of props, over a controlled run very much faster than we would be able to at say Drivers...
