Of course nowadays, it's only the RIBs that go out in the rough, or at least that's what the RIB boys like to think

Jonny.

Here is a challenge for you.

When you post twice in a row, your props look kind of strange!

Could you please get one of the opposite hand, and going the other way round.

Well it was a long time ago - I think Simon might have been going for the Wham look back then!

Cookee at least ours are racing thoroughbreds and not fu**ing DONKEYS with external floatation devices. Horses for courses, if you want to do point to point buy an old nag, if you want to race get a proper one!!

I thought the ider of racing was to make your equipment go as fast as possable. If your happy bashing round a course at under 30mph feel free its about all your good at. Ive just taken a dec at the races you won in 2ltr and the average speeds were all under 40mph. Where were you when the Mannerfelts won at averages of over 65? Rest my case!!

RNLI

In the old days the closest an Offshore Racer got to a RIB was when the RNLI were fishing him out of the water after turning his boat over!

boy band

As Adam suggested you could still send it in to Pete Waterman for a potential audition for his next band...you lose your hair ...not surprised with your water borne exploits!

PS Cowes 1983 I've cut Lady Aitken out ...didn't think she would mind

As you know Chris - we'll never agree on this one, it's just a shame that your boat (and the other lightweight batboats) wasn't built to race in the prevailing conditions in the UK - if I wanted to go as fast as possible I'd go and race an inshore boat.

My opinion for what it's worth is that Offshore race boats should be capable of racing in conditions that the organisers and the safety personel are comfortable operating in, regardless of the type of boat involved.

Dunno about that really, when ever racing, I've certainly always gone 'as fast as possible', can't really imagine doing anything else in a race, beit in-shore, or off-shore.

Will the rift between ribers and hardboaters ever end! (and of course blow boats)

hey-ho

Of course I go as fast as possible, it's racing! - But always in the knowledge that my boat is not made paper thin for flat conditions only - Chris is a nice guy really - just a bit misguided!

By the way Chris spoke to the guy about your vinyl again today - I'll give you a ring!

That's gotta start a row!!

I'm sure you're not generalising as much as that statememnt sounds, but as the 4 litre B28 'Wing n a Prayer' lasted about 10 years in racing, in both 4 and 6 litre, and was without doubt one of, if not the best rough water boat out there in class, and managed to hold it's own pretty well in the calm too, I think they're pretty cool, even outstanding.
