OK,
I sortof understand being protested when I actually beat the other V24. Its stupid - yes, especially when you actually race the *published* course, and the protesting boat decides to finish on four 'B' laps where everyone else does BBAB as per race instructions... Then when shown the race instructions, realise their mistake, but continue to protest anyway? Dont understand. No really - I dont understand. This was only resolved by getting the timekeepers to review my times for each lap, and determine the order in which I di my 'a' and 'b' laps. Which - supprizingly - showed my navigator had not made an error and we were exactly on course at all times! But it took over two hours to resolve and a load of stupid aggro, and especially the protesting driver coming along side after the race ans shouting at us 'You are DQ'd you are gone! it over hahahahahaa'
But what really pisses me off, is on Sunday, when I *retired* after one single lap of the course, I get protested anyway because ? ? ?
Technically I was 'beaten' on Sunday, so why the protest?
Lucky for me my GPS leaves behind a 'trail' - so the organisers just had to turn on my GPS and view the track left on the GPS to proove I did not miss the geographical mark 6 ( Mark 6 went AWOL at the start of the race....)
Seems like I will need to video the future races, so we can play a video replay of the 'action' in the inevitable 'I cant win the race at sea, so I will win by protest' - Also it may be fun to start protesting the 'driving skills' of this specific V24, and his insistance on turning this into a contact sport. This was noticed by quite a few other boats on the weekend, who commented that he appeared to be trying to 'take me out' - It may have looked close from a distance, it was fecking stupid up close!
So I think a video recording system and a protest cheque for the RYA is in order for the next race? Beat them at sea, *then* get them DQ'd on shore. Play them with their rules? Win twice in every race?
