Racer Feedback needed

Well after a really good taster day what is the feeling regards mixed class racing across OCRDA & UKFFORC using the established 1.3 (E9000)& 1.8(OCRDA A) classes racing together alongside the introduction of a 2.5L class.

Would 3 events per region per year be interesting? i.e. 3 combined national events in the West, 3 in the East and 3 Basics across the regions.

2 races per day and the potential start line of 20+boats in the Larger classes plus 2 races per day for the juniors in the established S250 & F400 classes too. This would provide a venue with 4 races per day with the classes of racers which can be seen from the shore, jetty, pier etc ???

So what are the racers views???

All in principle seems to be good - if attracting more boats - but my concern would be that you are introducing another class when you already have 3C. Cannot really see there being room for a OCR A class, 150hp class, 3C.

I would think that all the clubs have got to find a way of working togther and come up with a logical set of classes that can exist alongside each other. Don't know how they are going to hold races on their own anymore with the low turn-outs that are being achieved.

Well the class which fills the gaps that's being looked at is as follows.

1. Any production mono hull Min18' Max20'
2. Engine Evinrude ETEC 150 HO (2.5L)
3. Prop any Evinrude originally manufatured and set to suit the boat of choice.
4. Min Weight TBA
5. Similar course to E9000 and run alongside the current E9000 class.
6. Race time, up to 2X 35min races per day.

All very well - but another class?

Already too many classes / clubs and not enough racers!

Which classes are going to go - or be combined?

This is Formula 200 !! Introduced 3 or 4 years ago to allow the X OCR 2 ltr and basic 18' + boats with 200's to compete in an Offshore National.
I dont think there are any NEW classes to invent !! Although as there are no entries currently in Formula 200 someone could enter this class if all they want is a guaranteed win !!

I came second in that class to Richard White (I have a cheque for £300 on my office wall to prove it!) in the only year it ran - 2005, and it was run by UKOBA who have nothing to do with Offshore now - they switched over to Honda, and the Rory went to 6 litre and the WPPA, I think an OCR boat would be too short for it as I understood it was to allow the Ribs and Class III to race each other? Sadly I threw the rules for that class away a long time ago!

Sorry to dissapoint but Formula 200 is still a current class for min 18ft & upto 200hp and race alongside Class 3c as a basic class !! As confirmed by Chairman of ORDA yesterday !!

If anyone interested in racing has a boat in this category please contact myself, Rhino or Dave I am sure they can point you in the right direction.

No disappointment from me - I think that this class could appeal to the casual racer who wants somewhere to start without committing to a full on race boat as well as somewhere to use an old A class OCR boat with an XR2 on the back - there are quite a few around, I even have a powerhead left over - sold it twice but never seem to get rid of it - or get the money!
