There's at least 10 people on here who actively race in Guernsey, I'm one of them and I also help people out with mechanics where I can, have rigged 2 of the fleet and I'm Chairman of the club.

As for people doing rallies, it's all a great idea until someone gets hurt.
Sad reality is that the chances of everyone pulling together and organising a good 'rally' is pretty slim, then someone gets hurt and blame starts flying, the buck has to stop somewhere, who wants that position?

hi James what is the cost of racing over in Guernsey??? and could you come over just to do one race??

Hi Lloyd,

Yep, you're more than welcome to just do one race. We run a race roughly once a month, I'll post a calender soon as we've decided it.

Costs are nice and low, your event licence £75, and the entry fee £90 per boat. So for you and a nav, you're looking at £120 each for everything. Not exactly what I'd call expensive compared to some UK costs!

For that you get to run on unforgettable courses, in the best offshore waters in the UK, looked after by the best organising team in the UK. If carlsberg organised powerboating, it'd be in Guernsey!

If you, and any others are interested in coming over here to race I'd be more than happy to help organise great transport prices and anything else I can help with. I'd bet you could come here, have a great weekend and race all for the price of just doing a UK race!

James

As anyone who has come over here to race will tell you, our hospitality is as good as our racing.

Guernsey boys have bigger bow tanks, im a good example of that.

Would be great to see some of the uk boys over here again next year.. 2011 is going to be a big year of Powerboat Racing in Guernsey.

Will do

What you need is a nice P21 over here so you can just fly over and race!!

Seriously though, have a look at the website in my sig, there's a lot of info on courses etc on there, it's a great site. I'll get a little thing together and post it up on here to let everyone know what we're doing.

The way I see it, if you want to have a great racing season of 6 to 8 races one a month, as it used to be, come to Guernsey!!

James

Hello matey!

I'm sticking with the bravo for now. I'm convinced it's not gonna take it, but at this stage I can't really afford to change to something worthwhile. The way I look at it, it's a gamble, but if the bravo does live then it'll save me a fortune!

As yet no one has come across to race, probably because we haven't promoted it much yet for one reason or another, something I'm determined to change for next year!
That said, a few from over here have driven to the UK and back and in something 28ft, this would probably be the best way if the weather allows. Don't forget our fuel is really cheap too!
We could organise for a few of you to meet up and come across in company easily enough, it'd be great to have you over!

Cheers, James

They're not that bad, especially when you consider the race entry fee per boat is less than £100!!
I've got a few leads I'm looking into for cheap travel for you guys, the more of you that come, the cheaper I can get it.

If anyone who would be interested in joining us can PM me I can get an idea of numbers and thus price for travel.

Cheers, James
