Is Jaguar the legend / goldrush Jaguar still about or is the current Cinzano?

Ill never forgot Jaguar the Legend losing control taking the start finish line through the Harbour between those small J class looking sailing boats and not hitting anything.

Hello Everyone,
Having been watching from the outside looking in on your Boatshed forum, I felt it was time for me to become a member to congratulate both organisers and participants in their roles in keeping this great race going. I’ve been an enthusiast/spectator of this race for some 30 years now and it still had something about it, for me and my son (11yrs) to enjoy about.
Lets hope from what I have reading here on these forums, the enthusiasm and the energy, that there is amongst you lot, too keep this race weekend alive for the forthcoming years.
I liked the suggested idea of the ‘Festival of Speed’ weekend, which would cover all aspects of offshore powerboat racing, including the finale C-T-C. The only worry is that, like this year, the race between the new P1 boats and the classic powerboat was to me very exciting to watch, so, could this happen again next year? It maybe through gritted teeth that you need to talk to P1 management now too ensure that they keep that weekend free for those British P1 boats that likes the tradition of racing in such event as the C-T-C, for them to enable to enter, before its too late. The same I suppose for any other offshore class organisations, such as Class 1, Honda, and V24 etc.
Anyhow, I’ll stop the yapping and let you lot get on with you are best at and hope to see you all again here on the Island in 2009. If I can help in any way with ideas from a spectators eye watching offshore racing I will be willing to help out.

Steve

A couple of links from past posts regarding Jaguar the legend's scraping plus JF mentions a few other boats scraped along the way
http://boatmad.com/forum/showthread....=jaguar+legend

http://boatmad.com/forum/showthread....=jaguar+legend

You've probably been drinking ye beer out of her for the past few years

Jaguar the legend took part in the 84' Cowes race I was talking about and for a few laps had a bit of a dicing with Cinzano then if I recall it broke yet again, those guys must have been pulling their hair out with them their engines, one thing that puzzles me is why stick with engines so dam useless unless Gerv if thats how it's spelt had a super cheapo development deal with the Jag people although it did manage to complete the odd RB 84' leg

Was this 1984? I'm assuming it was, although my brain power is questionable these days. Note the Cruise Master sticker on the side of the cockpit - I designed it. (the sticker! - quite a claim - huh?!)

Great post i think you are spot on P1 needs the RB8 and CTC boats as much as they need P1

I also watched CTC for 25 years and this year finally managed to compete. Lets make Cowes a festival and then you and your boy can touch, smell and enjoy the atmosphere of offshore racing

Thanks Hunton69 for your response to my first message on this forum, yes the new against the old boats is very mouthwatering idea! We seen it briefly this year, lets hope that the Cowes weekend is a place where all teams will want to be racing next year including those P1 boats.

Tim Mellery Pratt ... is that you Tim from this Forum? if so quick ain't I (not) ... I was under the impression that that Tim worked for rebbecks as a surveyor back then and sunk a few of my des res sales

Would that not make him TimMP, rather than TimBC?

Mr Brand Crombie will be pissed at being branded a Mellery Pratt!

Indeed, Tim MP and Don on board. Strange isn't it, the great powers in the design world on both sides of the Pond were called Don. Does that make me a good designer if my middle name is Don?!

Those Marathon motors were probably built by Greg Basnett from Cruise Master Marine. I have a great article I will post which featured Cruise Master and their 700hp motors.

Yes I realised that after posting, trying to be clever and multitasking by posting and doing orders for the weekend at the same time and I failed miserably, and then a delivery turned up so I could not edit the mistake

Out of interest does Tim from Cinzano still follow racing and go to the odd event or has he left the playing field
