Gill at Drivers Wharf is offering a special deal for those who wish to take their boats to Cowes by water rather than the ferry.

You can store your vehicle & trailer at drivers, they will launch you, and recover you on your return after the weekends racing and the fixed price for the storage, launch and recovery is £100 inc vat. the offer is for all those taking part in the event.

Claire, no, no pit passes this year. though boats will have low fencing around them to stop the public getting tangled up with props (or something like that)

There will be the old traditional 'Beer Tent' in the Groves and Gutterage dry pits, like it used to be. Lots of chewing the fat and talking bollox, what powerboaters do best.

Can you confirm that there will be a dry pit area. If so have we space for the bandit battle bus. We won't take the trailer as the boat is so realible

Scrutineering is on Friday 22nd from 09.30 until 18.00 Barry. Race starts Saturday 23rd at 10.00 with a massed start of ALL classes. You can enter the dry pits with your waggon late Thursday afternoon.

We now have a proper Beer tent as well as the Fastnet plus a couple of fast food jobbies PLUS stage and live band! Not doing too bad for just one week.

Am asking Biboa for entries from their RIB fleet and have also asked the Honda fleet. We do now have three Honda 150's taking part. They should have fun doing straight line racing but where are the 225's?
ML.

Veteran powerboat racer / organiser Tim Powell will be looking after the throttles, in the Cinzano boat during testing for the CTC.

Navigator and mechanic Eric Smillie of the boat said, “It is a total pleasure to have Tim on board we have a fantastic boat, now we have a legend of our sport to help us win the Cowes Race.”

Tim Powell said “Let's hope we don't hit too much bad stuff, make sure the chaps have got a functional VHF, and a safety boat to look after us!”

Powell went on to say, “ I want to help out with the set up of the boat, hopefully Tim and Eric and myself will enjoy the experience!”

Ah, I thought you were even more stupid than that and has mislaid the race date. Sorry for any misunderstanding!

I've added the other details to the "facts" thread now.

The race will run, at least 37 boats entered!

Plus now getting "corporate" interest for hospitality.

Refer to JF's "sticky" thread for further details.

This is one weekend no boat race fan should miss!
