RMYC June race

This year the RMYC will only be running one race, it will be over the weekend of the 18th & 19th June in Poole, it would normally be called the Cancer Charity race but this it's been renamed to :-

Annie Beakhust Memorial Race
In Aid of Cancer Charities

Agreed - and this should be the perfect event for as many teams as possible to show their respects in a racing way - by racing and making a fantastic event.

Marathon Pre-Entry form

Dear All, at the Marathon meeting held at Drivers on the 5th February some of you indicated that you wished to race in the RMYC Needles Marathon race on Sunday 19th June, and you were prepared to pay in advance, please find attached the Marathon Pre-Entry Form, this needs to be filled out and returned to the RYA by the 6th May, cheques should be made payable to the RYA, please note that 13 of you said yes to pre-payment, so this discount will only apply if at least 10 boats sign up.

More event details

Just to give you all a little more details to how the event will be run and why. On Saturday the 18th June it’s Poole Afloat and Harry Paye Day (the renowned Poole pirate) on Poole Quay, so scrutineer will take place outside the Thistle Hotel for trailer boats, and in Dolphin Haven for boats arriving by sea, we hope to make this a boat show for Power boat racing, the Drivers briefing will be at 16.30 in the Thistle Hotel, trailer boats will then have to clear the Quay by 17.30 to a secure compound for overnight storage. On Saturday night we will be holding a Charity Party at Lake Yard in Hamworthy, Annie was commodore of this club for many years and Robin Culpan will be putting an exhibition together on the history of Power boating in Poole, did you know that Bluebird was launched and tested from Lake Yard ??. On Sunday the show will move to the RMYC in Sandbanks, but we will hold a weather briefing in Dolphin Haven for the Marathon boats, and at the club for all other boats, the race will start at 12.00 from Bournemouth Pier, the seafront will be busy with 50,000 runners taking part in the Race for Life, so we will have events on land and water for Cancer Research, the prize giving will be at the RMYC around 16.00. Logistically it not perfect for competitors, but it will give us two large audiences and the perfect location for the party.

Cool First Marathon entry

Just had an email from Tony Toll to say the pre-entry form has been filled out for Apache, and it will be on it's way to the RYA with the cheque this week, well done Tony.
Please email or PM me so we can keep a running list of entries.

Will get back to you all later this week with information on the Class 3 2.0 & 1.3, V24 National races plus the club F2, F1 & Unlimited classes that we are also running.

Entry fee update

Just to answer the questions above it’s our intention to run a National race for Class III 2.0/1.3 and V24’s, plus a club race for all other boats, the National classes will be running on a 65 mile course and we hope to get approval to run the same course for the club boats as in previous years, looking at the BIBOA web site, this race is also part of its 3 race series.
As you will see above we are offering a discount for Marathon pre-entries, just to make it fair for the other classes the committee have agreed to offer a £30 early entry discount for Class III and V24, and £25 for the club race, attached is the pre-entry form which must be sent to the RMYC by the 6th May, please do not send to the RYA as they are only handling the Marathon pre-entries.

It was a "family" decision and felt appropriate bearing in mind recent events.

Cliff, the normal June Cancer Charity race run from the club in early in June is a club (basic) race with no crane, and is cheaper than the August Needles and Camden race that we run from Poole, the Annie Beakhust Memorial race is a combination of both races with Saturday being on Poole Quay, and Sunday mainly being at the club. We are hoping that most Marathon boats will be arriving by sea, but we will be arranging a crane for boats that are unable to slip from the club due to size.
