Roll bars

Got a document in the email last night telling me that we will have to fit roll bars in the future to OCR, S250, F400, E900 and E1500 - in addition to side impact protection - my worry is that it would be difficult to make it strong enough to prevent it getting crushed in some circumstances and trapping the occupants without making it so heavy as to make the boat unstable?

The attachment points would also have to be much stronger than a regular layup to prevent it either destroying the boat or getting ripped off in a minor incident, also making the boat heavier above the centre of gravity?

Any thoughts?

Were we not supposed to have the results of the safety review published on the 9th?

and if this is true, what a f*cking ridiculous and downright dangerous idea... Roll bars in cars are only effective with a full harness, and a full harness in an open boat is a death wish. Any kind of incident such as a severe hook where someone is thrown clear of the boat is gonna have them smashing into a roll bar instead!!

Roll BArs

I think you will find that the text in black was ideas for discussion.
The text lower down in red is what was agreed.
The main thing is don't worry.
Don't listen to hearsay.
All will become apparent through the official channels as soon as possible.

Realistically is it too late to implement a major change like this for this season?

There was a December 31st deadline so I'm sure we'll hear something soon!
