We asked them at the show yesterday if they were going to run in the RB 2008. They said no, it wasn't in their agenda. We shall see.
By the way, you all know how well that Donzi runs in P1, totally different to the Sunseeker! They came on the stand today and will run a special in the 2008, that will be really interesting! They are looking for dealers in this country if anyone is interested. PM me if you are as I would like to help them. At least they offer encouragement. Show is great, LOADS of interest in the race, so far another four entrants from just two days plus all sorts of other stuff happening.

Yup, an edurance version, not a sprint P1, well that's what they say. We will have to wait and see.

Lightbulb

Got it all you need to do is persuade Mr Bush the RB2008 may pose a risk to world security unless he sends an aircraft carrier to supply support and security, which I am sure he will be only to happy to do, as it gives him more ammunition to ask the nice people of the USA to cough up another 100billion for his war coffers

this is my monday brilliant idea

Might not be such a far fetched idea as after Mr. Brown has been in office for about a year, there might not be much left of the Royal Navy.

you probably have not heard living on that side of the pond Ben, by the end of this year the RN will have nothing more than a skeggness fishing vessel with a large net, but think of the savings Labour can now channel into the NHS

Read the story on the Sunday Times online and Telegraph online yesterday.

I might have moved to the States but I still read the Sunday papers!

Can't seem to find Clarkson though.

Re Boat Show and Membership

Just a quick word of thanks to all the guys who came round to the stand to say Hi and to find out what this old geezer looked like! Your enthusiasm for the race is fantastic.
Many new entries from the show and a lot to think about over the next few days. As I mentioned in the last news letter membership for the Round Britain 2008 Club will be launched on the web site this week together the benefits of joining (preferential entry and information etc) plus the latest three page information sheet on the rules and reg's regarding safety etc. We are up to 84registered interested parties so if you intend to race you had better join fast. Of course there will only be a certain number of boats we can handle so there will be a limit on the entries.
I am still being asked whether this race will actually take place which is really annoying. The question should be "What can we do to help make this race take place" but of course you will always get the sceptics.
ML.

You have just started on the road by asking that question, you can PM me and I will be specific but you can spread the word, bore the pants off people by talking about it to anyone and everyone. This race is going to be the biggest thing in offshore powerboat racing for many years so make sure everyone knows it and from that more help and interest will come. Already we are being approached by all sorts of companies wanting to join in the action wanting to provide all sorts of services. But, we need sponsorship and TV to make this a truly great race and of interest to Jo Public and then interest in the sport in general will grow (which will help all the other powerboat clubs). Otherwise it will end up as just another powerboat race.

The continuous films we ran at the show of the 1969 and 1984 RB races (amongst others) proved a huge hit. We had crowds of people (mostly men until their wives dragged them away) around the stand watching those guys from almost forty years ago racing. Interesting to watch their faces, without a doubt our sport can look awesome from the spectators viewpoint. Maybe they will be running the film of this race in 30/40 years time when all you guys will be as old as me!

Racing Classes

It has been agreed by the Racing Committee of the 2008 Round Britain Race that all RIB's should race in the same classes as the hard boats. This will indeed make for extremely interesting racing.

Join and you get preferential background information before anyone else on the progress of the race programme, preferential entry into the race (ensuring your entry) and preferential entry into all the entertainment programmes before, during and after the race.

It's gone quiet because I'm working my backside off trying to knit everything together. Good team effort from Viv, Rob and Jon on the class rules. Finding info on one last point and then we are up and running on the classes. Still a million other things to do but we are getting there. Priority now is funding and a special team is being put together for that now. Can't do that on my own. It's all looking good.
