What do you think HIM? Couple of years to get the old girl ready (no smart comments please). Could be fun.

Can you help?
Everest Double Glazing was the sponsor for the 1984 Round Britain Powerboat Race and they had a very expensive film made of the whole event. We do have, and it's on the gallery somewhere, the Mercruiser version made by South Western Marine but the original film we can't find. I have of course asked members of the original committee and Everest but no luck.
My last shot is the name of the girl who did the P.R. at the race called Sue Drinkwater. (don't laugh). Most racers of the 1980's will remember her as she did a lot of work for UKOBA.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of this young lady, well not so young now. Last heard of in the Devon/Cornwall area.
Please let me know if you know where she is as we want this film to go onto our web site in the "history of the race" section and also it's an important bit of powerboat history in itself.
I have been given a complete 16mm cine reel of the 1969 race by Tim Powell so if anyone can tell me where to go to get that converted to Video or DVD please let me know. That will be even more fun to watch.

Will chase that up today. Thanks very much for the info. Very much appreciated. I will keep you all in touch of the result because if the film is still good it should prove fascinating to watch. Tim Powell actually gave me TWO reels. He had no idea which race was on the 2nd reel but on the front on a very old label you can just read The Greatest Offshore Powerboat Race In The World. What that is is anyones guess. All the best boats from the late 1960's anyway!

Pretty sure I've got the Sowester/ Mercruiser tape somewhere. Will dig it out and have a go at committing it to DVD.
Oh yes, and watching it, you would assume there were no other engine manufacturers

How do you define "maintain a mininum of 30kts"?
Does it mean that any boat failing to meet this average on a leg will be disqualified?
