That post reminds me of your previous signature:

I am grateful for your wisdom, and bow down to your vast intellect.

As you clearly know the answer, perhaps you could explain for the thickies amongst us.

In this context, "maintain a mininum of 30kts" means:

A - Boats need to have a normal cruising speed of over 30 knots to be eligible for entry

B - Completing a leg with an average speed of less than 30 knots will mean that the leg is forfeit

C - Completing a leg with an average speed of less than 30 knots will mean that the event is over for you

Now

Does it mean that any boat failing to meet this average on a leg will be disqualified?
I never thought we would have to explain this one. Boats must be able to exceed 30knts as their top speed for obvious reasons.
No one would be disqualified if they did not maintain this speed because of an engine failure or serious sea conditions. In 1984 some of the cruisers took up to eight hours to complete some legs because of sea conditions even though their craft was capable of a top speed of around 40knts plus.

Thanks for clarifying that. In land based rally-raid type events it's not uncommon to have a cut-off time for each leg which is why I asked. I think your approach is much better for this event.

Given that entrants will not actually be required to "maintain a minimum speed of 30 knots", perhaps a better wording would be "with a cruising speed of at least 30 knots" to avoid any ambiguity.

Will slot you into a class don't worry. You should do quite well. As I keep banging on here a Revenger 25 came fourth OVERALL last time so there is no reason why your boat shouldn't hang together. If I remember correctly you did have a problem with your transom, did you get that fixed as you don't want those big outboards to start falling off when you are 30 miles out in the Irish Sea! It will certainly be a trip of a lifetime, that's for sure.

There now appears to be 2 eye bolts attached from the engine mounts to the hull of the boat. Keeping me fingers crossed.

We supply taxi's with suited drivers.

Don't do vans but should be able to chuck a minibus in.

Would be nice to know what the entrance fee might be ( approx )
