It looks that way. If it is our priority will be Poole / Cherbourge as i remember reading about that in 96 and always fancied ago. Not many boats i believe have cracked the hour. Thats our goal

Just checked your web page out look forward to getting to drivers to see the boat

Personally I wasn't aware of your race Tim, had heard rumours but that's all so at the Clubs & Classes meeting on Friday at the RYA I lobbed in the Poole/Cherbourg/Poole Race to take place on the Friday 29th May (race across to Cherbourg), R&R in the bars and restaurants on the Saturday and Race back home on Sunday 31st and then go home on the Monday Bank Holiday. That was the plan but I don't want to interfere or hinder your race so will talk to JP to cancel our race as there is the possibilty of another endurance race now coming up in June anyway that will take a lot of my time. There's always another year.

You can not have two Enduro races in one year, the cost to competitors would be crippling and force people to choose one of the other and end up depleeting the field of entries and then just plain cripple the sport.
I would also point out you knew of this and other events I would like to put on and had been planning for nearly 2 years in way back in 07 .........

On a personal note the Poole/Cherbourg was mentioned on here a couple of months ago way before this announcement. Not trying to stir things up as i have the utmost respect for any one who organises any events. We as a team would prefer the Poole event as much cheaper and the mortgage needs to be paid

The 2009 Race Calender is what is what is being referred to here and it is put together by the RYA after the submissions from all the race clubs.

Here's your answer Tim, this gentleman wants to take part in as many endurance races as we can fit in the calender. There will be four in 2009 that I know of for certain, Yours, The Needles from the RMYC, the CTC from us and a long distance one running out of Poole being set up by UKOBA for the end of September
Also, you really shouldn't be taking offence when there has been none intended and I have offered to withdraw the Poole Cherbourg Poole race so that it does not conflict with your race and cause problems.

Whoa, hang on a minute Mike, from what I've heard this was looking like it would be a popular event, nice and simple time trial that would appeal to the masses. I'm certainly up for it, as I missed the last one as it clashed with a holiday.

On the other hand this ''round the islands'' event sounds more like a biboa or cruising in company trip, and certainly wouldn't be of interest to me.

I certainly wasn't aware of this proposed event, although I had heard talk of the rather ambitious London/Monte Carlo.

As for the costs, a quick dash over to Cherbourg, a pie and a pint, cheap guest house and then a dash back the following day sounds far more affordable for the budget racer than a week in the Channel Islands!!!!!

Sorry to be tecnical but CTC, Needles and Poole/Cherbourg are not Endurance events.
RB08/ Venice Monte Carlo and London Monte Carlo are.
That is why I said competitors could not afford more than one every 3 or 4 years and why I am trying for a mini to encourage people to keep RB08 boats or even better to build or buy boats for major events and the mini's keep the interest going and allow people to have boats for more than one event every 3/4 years................A lot of money to be lying around for years at a time........

Yep Im basically with you Scot,

Its costing us guys a small fortune in this current climate to "Try" to put boats together let along getting a Support Crew together...
Could someone PLEASE post a calendar so "we" could see whats happening and then indicate "Our" support for the events..
That way round we could save up ou pennies and go racing..

For my 2 pence worth 2009 has to be a cheap year for us coming of the back of RB8.

We intend running Brass Monkey, Poole / Cherboug as TD says will be cheap.
Cancer research and CTC. hopefully turning that weekend into a festival of power boats for racers and posers

In between we intend using the boat for pleasure. Will be nice just to cruise.

Angry Endurance Race - Originally from Weymouth, now Torquay - whe

I note T B-C's thoughts as to what he thinks is an endurance event. Years ago, the term did not exist - they were all offshore races.
Just some longer than others. Of recent years, anything over about 100 miles has been referred to as an endurance race - what people wish to call races of between 100 & 250 miles is upto them, but the current trend is to call them endurance races. If Tim does not agree, then he is not up with current thinking - but thats my own view.
Mike (Old Man) has most graciously offered to withdraw or move an event that has been agreed at the RYA to be included in the 2009 calendar.
To do so, means that it would be good to know that Tim's replacement event has some substance & that he has a reasonable chance of it 'taking-off' & becoming a viable event.
aS To those who ask:" What Calendar" well, from about this time of year, the RYA Powerboat Dept start to draw up a calendar of events/races for the following (fast approaching) year.
At last Fridays Clubs & Classes Committee Meeting, where all club delegates put their clubs events forward for inclusion on this calendar, Tim's race was included on the calendar, & Mike (Old Man), put forward the Cherbourg race, from Cowes as opposed to Poole.
It may be that the views of probable entrants will decide, as seems to be happening, which of these events receives the most support.
My only misgiving is that Tim has muscled in on an existing race run by ORDA, at Torquay now, without even having the good grace to ask the promoting club for its views, or having the good manners to request a contact with them.
No doubt you will all wish to express your own views according to your preferences.
It is a pity that a re-surgence of offshore racing has already caused upset between clubs, largely due to bad manners & lack of correct contacts.
