The rule is out there now.

We all have the information within time to *act* on the information ( unlike - for example - Cowes 2005, which was a FU£k UP )

SO having the information, act on it. If they want to play games with the system - fine - At least they are telling you the rules of the game this time!

( FWIW: I think for the 2007 season it would be better ( IMNSHO ) to set the race entry fee for each race at say £300 per event, and offer a 40% discount to those who enter *with cheques* for the event by the 1st February 2007 - *BUT* - Send out that information by December perhaps, or as soon as the events are finalised. So as soon as you have set dates, publish them, and give 30 days for the people to enter, and if they make the 30 days time limit, they can get their 40% discount! )

Trust me - 6 events at a discount of +- 700 pounds would be a huge incentive.

PLUS, you could actually charge people the £50 for a late entry...

Why have a sneaky suspicion this is going to be a very acidic point come the end of the season with a few teams and a blessing for others.
OCRDA has a very valid comment. seems logical and easily understood.

I do not want to create any bad feelings or anything......

Right, get you form in by the 14th April, brilliant you get your 200points..... Those who may not get their entries in either because they cant financially fund it, or they are missing the first few races, or they are new to the sport and only going to do a couple of races, national/basic. If National they will then be X amount of points behind fellow racers when they start because they did not get there entry form by the date they were asked to?
Realistically in the long run, the championship for this year maybe based on whether you got your entry in by 14th April or not, and recieved there 200 point bonus?

This does not sound much of an incentive if i was new to the sport!! It sounds as though it is more administrative/office based racing, rather than on the water were it should be!!

Disagree to be honest - if you miss a few races you are not going to be in the running for the National Championships anyway - being realistic - so the points don't make much difference.

This is just an attempt for the clubs to get around the age old problem of entries coming in so late. We have tried financial incentives to enter on time and they do not work. Could make the financial penalty / incentive bigger - but just imagine the amount of moaning we would get then!

I don't know if this is the perfect answer - but the intentions are good.

At the end of the day you want to win the championship get those entries in, racing for fun no reason to rush.
Simple straightforward............. favored by some a thorn to others.

i am with Will on this, having just come back from a sandy place fighting for Q & C, i need 2 months to get ready before floating the boat therefore lose out on 200 points before racing so at the end of the year our team points look even more shite than those who can race all events and get there entries in early.
Honda's looking inviting !!

This year OCRDA will be using the £25.00 surcharge!
All our racers etc have received a calendar with the entry closing dates next to them so theres no excuse, that they didn't know, its in Race Instructions as well.If some-one enters but then decides they cant make the event as long as i know by the wednesday night before the event, their entry fee will be carried over to the next event.
Unfortunately the reason we have to push for early entries is so we know, along with ORDA and other clubs, how many we have got coming, whats the point of holding an event for 3 boats, when officials expenses and RYA Insurance would be far more than the entry fees anyway.
As to Will's comment about points,Adam is right, you ain't gonna win if you ain't gonna race, and your club no matter which one it is needs your support in all ways, all season, not just when you fancy a day out
