Skagerak Across 2013.
They have a great site here for the Skagerak Across 2013 race which includes aerial footage of the race last year. http://www.skagerakacross.no
Some great boats are taking part including the old Flying Flipper "Flippin eck" Mikko's "All Black Race Team", Dag Rasmussen in his 36' Goldfish which won last year, Jens Munk and his Copenhagen Racing Teams triple engined 47' Fountain and of course Vee's "Microlink" plus about 8 others. Should be quite a race to follow as they will be using Yellowbrick.

Just spoke to Gareth two boats got in to Hertshals before them by a minute or two. They don't seem to show on Yellowbrick though.
Gareth recons the run over was as flat as a pancake.
The best of luck to them on the way home and lets hope they can take the record

It's a bit late now but heard that the two Nor Tech cats came in before Microlink. Seas apparently as flat as a pancake. Vee is happy though, has never met such a friendly atmosphere before, promises to go back next year! Maybe we have some lessons to learn from the Scandinavians!

.......... and it was a bit more hectic than that start run - as the only RIB we had boats touching us on both sides at one time! Shame there isn't any photos of video of that start!

It's also a shame we can't attract the same teams to the UK - how many cats were there racing? Banning them from marathon events doesn't seemed to have reached Norway!

Have to say what an event to take part in! Some super sexy bits of kit and the 2 Nortech cats looked fantastic in the morning sun when we ran to Denmark.
The safety cover was amazing and the organisation was great, we also did a fun few laps in the Fjord on the Saturday for the crowds which was Awesome running towards the village at 100 plus with a lunatic chopper pilot over head!
Mikko was a top bloke to meet and his creation is something to behold would definitely be a menace if it were to rough up!

Did you have to hang around in the little harbour in the village before the race with the big clock?
Just milling around in the harbour with that many boats was hard enough.

Us foreign lot had to run to marathon but basically it was run under their club rules. Speaking to the organizers they want to keep it so you run what you brung!

Quite flexible, boats have to either comply with the UIM marathon rules or be CE approved or by approved the DNV.

A fantastic event, with a lot of nice people!
Got a taste of what Skagerak can bring you on our way back to Uddevalla,Sweden, on Sunday afternoon.
The 106 Nm trip began with a a nice swell on the Norwegian side but after about 30 Nm the sea got rougher and rougher.
The last 30 Nm we had a confused sea state that would have made a perfect raceday! Got really wet a couple of times...
