If any Class 111's, V24's, Sportsboats, Honda's or anything/anyone else that wants to have a go and chance their luck at what is going to probably be the last race of the season they are welcome to come and have a go at the South Coast Marathon meet at Drivers on the 16th & 17th October.

The course will be one or two laps of the CPC course depending on the weather. Unless of course anyone wants to run with the Marathon Fleet to Portland and back!! I haven't got the go from the RYA on that last sentence as the insurance will probably leap of the chart but am checking.

Does that mean I have to order some more Blue Nun for the welcome reception?

Competitors using Event Licences

Please note if you have used an event licence twice before.

"Competitors who have already taken two Event Licences in 2009 will have to obtain a full medical examination as per current RYA requirements for full licence applications before a further Event Licence can be issued."

It seems strange that after 2 races without being unhealthy that you then have to prove your health & spend your money for the third race whilst some unfit person can 'just enter'... Am I missing something?

And people who are medically unfit to race will just buy as many event licences as they can. And sooner or later something nasty will happen.

Personally I think your first event licence should be free of all fees, medicals etc etc, and your second event licence should have the medical and fees attached. You had your first 'go' to see what it was like, now you want to race, you need to show you are medically fit, and you need to pay for your share of the insurance costs.

It is fact that medically unfit people have raced previously, used various techniques to avoid the medical exam and have caused accidents.

what accidents were they then. and event licence cost does go towards the cost of insurance. just my opinion but i doubt many will do more than 2
