Southampton Boat Show.........
There was a possibility that there was to be race a the Southampton Boat Show this year, this now might of been called off due to lack of numbers! This would be a great shame as the possibilities with both spectators and sponsors is endless.
So i was wondering how many people, to get some idea of numbers, would be interested in doing a basic race at the Southampton Boat Show?
Can we keep this focused on the above subject please!!

no contest, V-24 is quicker, better ballanced, and has a huge confidence booster (canopy)

UKOBA were going to hold a Formula 200 race there which would have been great, however due to the number of boats going to Italy for the class III race it has been cancelled.
I suggested that in the same way there were RIBs at RIBEX doing race experience trips under RYA insurance, they could do the same thing at Southampton with RIBs and class III, not sure how you would get on about the dunk test to go out in a V24 though!
I even offered to provide the leisure BananaShark as the safety boat - havn't heard back from Rory yet - maybe he's busy with Cowes?

The Southampton Venue is most likely to produce the greatest amount of publicity for our sport and was a tremendous success for Honda last year. It is simply about numbers, if we want our sport to survive this is an event that could really boost our profile.
If we get together with enough boats we may be able to get this event back on. Only ten 2litre boats are going to Italy for the Worlds and some may be prepared to race at Southampton on their return (a real commitement as they only get back on the Wednesday before race weekend). I am sure the rest of the national 2litre fleet would race at Southampton and the basic boats would love to come out and play. On top of this we have the RIB's eligible under the F200 rules who surely would love to demonstrate their performance infront of the crowds at the Southampton Boat Show.
We will be there please pass this message on to anyone who would be interested in racing at the Southampton Boat Show. The cause is not yet dead and discussion will take place at Cowes!

Sorry to be a pain. but I'm in the middle of organising something else, so I need to know - who is organising the race and who is the "we" as in "we produce the numbers"? I will race if there is one of course, but I have heard nothing official since UKOBA cancelled the race?
