Spectating Cowes 100 and Cowes-Torquay

I plan to watch the races next weekend and am looking for some advice about etiquette etc. I haven't watched a race from the water since the 80s when you could rock up to a marker buoy and watch the boats come screaming past -usually very close!!! Should spectating boats be on the inside of the circuit? Distace from markers? I plan to watch from Hengisbury Head.
I know this may seem a daft thread but there is NO advice to spectating craft on the website and the last thing I want to do is get in your guys way! Any advice gratefully received and have a great weekend!

If you keep 100 yards (sorry metres) inside the course that should be OK, some boats come from different angles when on a long leg, so watching from the outside of the course is inadvisable!

Spectating for Cowes

All marks in that area will be marshalled and they will kindly ask you to move to the best and safest place, in this case about 100 metres or more South. If you are thinking of being off Hengistbury you will be in a great position for the Cowes 100 as we pass there twice. My suggestion would be go down to just North West of the Needles Fairway for the start at 10.30 then motor up to Hengistbury as we won't be there for at least 45 minutes, then there are the two short laps.
For the Sunday race 10.00 start from North Head running down to Needles Fairway, then a long gap until we get back to North Head say 12.00 onwards.
Do please listen to what the marshalls have to say as they are there for everyone's safety.
Enjoy it, hopefully we will !
