that is very true - racing is not quite going to plan
test the boat and all goes well - show it a race and engine / steering does not want to play. Had a fitting go on the helm this time and most of the hydraulic fluid in the cockpit by the time we reached the muster area!

Basic Race? What are you like Adam. This is an International Invitation Race at Cowes for goodness sake and bleeding expensive to put on. Plus there are the parties we are setting up for everyone at the RYS and the Royal Corinthian and then there is the beer tent in the pits etc etc etc. Hardly a basic race. Anyway, the run down the Solent behind the Red Jet is worth your entry fee alone and then of course there is the film!! Just get your boat fixed and come and take part in probably the ONLY true long distance Marathon offshore race this year and definitely the most prestigious

Mike, you trying to tell us something?
How is UKOBA getting on with it's September race? After all, 'their' sponsors *alleged* email, and all important vote were instrumental in recent rules changes, I would hope their only race is as promised, a dead cert.

whats all this about rule changes?
It seems there are more sets of rules than there are races in a year when it comes to marathon.
While you're in rule changing mode could you please create "warlord" class where only boats which are 30'7" long and called warlord can take part. you don't need to worry about buying the trophy i've already got one made, its considerably bigger than everyone elses and has a small statue of me at the top. (unfortunately no room for throttle man captain "desperado" chaos)
PS could someone post the new rules.

Except...
My opinion is, we already had too many classes, but it wasn't easy to wittle it down any more. If a class was needed, it was a separation in Historic, so that the classics such as the Fairy Huntsmans and Swordsmans etc could run in a lower speed class (competitively) and the old timer UIM II boats etc could run in a higher one (such as Mr Noisy & D2S) with a higher max speed limit. This didn't happen because as I say, there was already considered to be too many divisions. However, another class has now been forced upon Marathon by a group of influential people, so we've ended up with more classes anyway. I would have much rather seen a split Historic class if we had to have anything at all.
As for the minor changes that don't appear to have even been discussed.............Par for the course it seems.

Nothing comic or underhand going on Jon, just a Freudian slip on my part, After all, if I hadn't printed these damn rules nobody was going to which would have been a stupid way of carrying on and grossly unfair to ALL potential competitors. Historic/Classic now returned to MPH as per ORC decision.
The rules are there now whether we like them or not. The job is done. Now let’s get on with racing and enjoy ourselves and be done with all this.
