I think Hotboats had some potential, but all up front put a lot off, along with a cancelled first event.
would pretty much cover most boats and a sub-division could have been added to cover if the demand was there to balance the classes better.

Surprised there is no intrest in IIIB but I suspect the cost difference is very little these days

Class III 2 litre isn't dead by any means, OCR is very much alive and kicking, Honda is very successful, Thundercats and Zapcats both have good turnouts, and then there is P1 and Six litre doing very well - there are 24 Class III 6 litre boats running out in the Gulf with prize money that goes a long way down the list.

What sort of boat would you be looking at, and could you see yourself wanting something that doesn't fit in with any of the above?

honda is like bovril you love it or not, zaps and ocr are great racing but not offshore ,6lt would be a great class to run if it was closer than the gulf.the class that should be boyant is v24 being good for pr and atractive to sponsors.rib racing was good too but as you know its gone aswell

Racing in the UK

Without wishing to start up the Hotboats conspiracy theories again and ignoring personal issues etc, what would it take to get a class up and running again that would suit plenty of boaters who would like to race in this country?

what class do you want to do.class 3 2litre is the only international class that that is available. The trouble is there are too many people that own raceboats that for some reason do not race them.Ithink they just like to talk about racing rather than doing it.The world seems to be full of bar room racers.

well said rhino, i can think of a few people that know they would be world champion if they choose to race but can't be bothered.
it's a shame they don't come and play because there are some nice boats out there.

basic racing worked for me, i think you can only do 2 now and then you have to get a national license,or something like that

I suspect getting away from the international class structure would be a move in the right direction to get bums on water, people could then choose to move to an international class later. Honda has proved that. Just really need something more open.
Some of the rules have gone a little too far as an individual opinion and puts so many new and retired racers in the "oh stuff it" Category.

Once the fun goes from racing so does your intrest - very quickly

Another hot potatoe, is the format not just a boys day out but a full weekend with Friday off as well in so many cases doesn't cut it for most of the potential newbies & old fudgers.

Racing does not come cheap and then to stick 2 nights weekend digs on the bill does ad to it a bit and hardly keeps the cost down.

That said Race entry fees have been kept well down but still far exceed most other motorsports.

Thse are not answers but opening topics to fuel other points, the floor is open

Must agree with you. After RB8 all i'm thinking of doing is basic races. we want to have some fun. As there isn't any price money no point taking it to seriously.

And the other reason is probably money. I could be racing a GT3 for a lot less
