The Royal Motor Yacht Club “Club Classic Final” Sunday 10th September 2006

The Royal Motor Yacht Club “Club Classic Final” Sunday 10th September 2006

Due to lack of entries for the above, the organising committee have decided to cancel the event. It is with regret that we have made this decision.
We would like to thank those who have entered, ie. R2, C56, C12, 34, V69, V2 and a late entry of V24.

Also we would like to thank all those who have supported the Royal Motor Yacht Club’s powerboat events over the years, as competitors and officials, including the Safety and Rescue fleet without whom racing would not take place.

So does that mean I won lol. sereiously we need more people on the water at the same events not splitting up to different venues, Gary.

To all at the RMYC, so sorry to hear about the event. As you know I was coming down with jetski to do safety.

Let's hope we get entries for the basic race at Torquay in time or it could well go the same way.

DAMN!

It was going to be perfect practice for the P2P run. I am quite upset - it is one of the friendliest venu's out there!

Thank you to those who tried to get the event off the ground!

I hope you do continue to arrange the races next year. We need basics.

: A thought on the new classes - can they run as part of the existing basic races. This is both the super class and the oldtimer class that are being discussed...

It would be great to see 30 boats racing together in a basic race!

On their way to Italy possibly!

I wonder if the race would have been cancelled if all 7 entries had been class 1's

It seems to me that the national calendar needs sorting out!

Running this basic which we went to every year and is one of the best venues, at the same time as Honda are racing in Liverpool and the RIB Rally in Egypt which has taken a lot of people abroad was not very sensible.

It used to be that when the calendar was set by the ORC they tried to avoid this sort of race conflict. Anyone on the ORC know why this happened?

Shame to waste all the time and effort of the organisers

MIKEY: Don't mention Egypt and the ORC in the same sentence ! The ORC does try to be as acommodating as possible with the calendar but some venues have constraints like tides etc that dictate the timings so we do try to be flexible. Probably have more shake ups for next year. Well done in Cowes ! SIMON.
