Thanks for that - In the absence of any official news we are going ahead with the planning of our trip. In the event we get our money back for the entry fee we intend to split the money up and distribute it to charities (Children's Hospices) at every stop via the Rotary Club.

Thinking of starting in Salcombe and going down to Penzance, to Swansea, then up to Liverpool, Glasgow/Kip Marina?, Fort William, Though the canal to Inverness, down to Edinburgh then Hull, London, Poole and back to Salcombe.

The dates are to be confirmed but it will be around the same dates as the race.

If anyone has any suggestions as to the best places to spend the night around those areas it would help us out with the planning.

Route and proposed dates are here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&mid=1333871737

It's a lot of planning and we'll still have a support crew follow us with the option of going by trailer in case of bad weather so that we can keep up the schedule.

ps I'll start a separate thread if it's a definite cancellation of RB12.

:In the absence of any official news:

Having read this a few times cookee, reading between the lines you know the race is off.

Do you want to spill the beans or should it be left to the PR professionals from RB12

RB12 Race has now been officially "Postponed" until 2014 but it will take more than that to put off the E-Lites BananaShark crew.

With very little time to organise it the intention is for the crew to carry on with the trip and go round Britain anyway, using the more traditional Race route through the Caledonian Canal the crew plan to start in their home port of Salcombe, the team will visit 10 more venues leaving cheques for Children's Hospices at every venue with the Rotary Club of Great Britain (I'm sure they won't mind!) - This money will come from the return of the entry fee from the RB12 Organisers. Our proposed route is on this map and if we get approval from everybody we will be back by the end of June.

Thanks to Bob Eddings who has already offered some help with Poole - if you're on the route and have some local knowledge that would be of some use then please let me know - thanks!

Wish us luck and if anyone is on our route we would love to see you on the way round.

I have an owner that has bought a 13 Metre rib to run in RB12 and it is being fitted out now , also he will enter 3 or 4 cars and has paid deposits to the organisers. All attempts to contact same have been fruitless.

Can anyone shed light on this ?

Hallooooo, Cookee!

Rumour has it that you are Spokesman / Bloggist for RB 12 , so what information do you have to impart to my rather miffed client ?

Personally I feel great sadness for Neil Mcgrigor. He has had to endure huge stress levels over many months putting this race together in a very difficult economic and financial climate with demands coming at him from all quarters. He has had to comply with all the environmental rubbish that flew his way including a massive environmental study of the whole coastline of the UK costing many many thousands of pounds (the Greenies are a nightmare nowadays saying that Powerboats scare the fish and the sea birds and everyone runs scared!) only to end up with nothing. The emotional price must have been tremendous. At least he has shown his total commitment to our sport.

It was the lack of entries that stopped the race at the end of the day.

May I suggest to Neil that he goes off with his family to somewhere hot and exotic and forgets about all this trauma and then comes back when the scars have healed and join us in the Cowes/Monte-Carlo 2013!

On a personal note, I would like to thank Neil & Hugo @ RB12 for their tremendous support of Cowes 2010 & 2011.

It is never easy running an event, let alone procuring a Title Sponsor.

Their time, money and effort was greatly appreciated by the BPRC, Race Officials and competitors.

Wasn't all there money, Many have lost £500 plus 20% of there entrance fee if they stick to there agreement.

850 hp boat would be about 2 and a half grand out of pocket.

Not sure if that was your money you would be full of praise.

However others may now understand what a brilliant job Mike and his team did in 2008
