mat 2 years ago we used to all race together ( f1 f2 f3)

this was really good and it worked in the sence that even if there was only two boats in a class they still got a race and it looked good because you had 25 to 30 boats racing
this ment the people watching the race would see boats come round all the time not just one every five min which happens in every class at this present time.

i think one of the reasons this stopped was because we did get 15 v24, ribs got 14 boats ect ect

this is why v24 started racing by itselfs but it is like running a buisness when thing are good there good but every now and then you have a bad spell so you need to step back to go forward again.

What seems to be forgotten here is the way the V24 series told all and sundry that they were the best thing since canned beer and they were going to break out on their own and form their own series, leaving the offshore sport in the mire regarding boat numbers. Now things have not worked out they have come back into the fold with their tails between their legs claiming that we are being unfair to other members of the sport!!!!

The F200 fleet has been asked if they would mind having the v24 racing on the same start and the answer was a resounding NO for our national races. Basic races being a different story, you pay your money you take your chances. We want close racing between boats of the same power weight ratio which have the same sort of handling capabilities in all conditions, which with the current format we have to a good degree.

We all know the current F200 format needs some fine tuning, but the public can get their heads round boats with outboards racing together. To throw in canopied boats with inboards would further confuse the situation and that is not what we are trying to achive. Joe public has to have some sort of idear what is going on.
The RYAs idear of the formulas had some merit but with a mass being the only plus point the punter was confused as to the out come of the race when there was 9 or 10 different teams taking the podium as winners.

If v24 can get their s--t together and get their numbers back up they would be a welcome addition to any venue with the close exciting racing they have. They are a crowd pleaser, but they need to stand alone in their own races in the current climate regarding offshore racing.

That doesn't seem a very charitable approach to 'fixing' Offshore Powerboat racing.

All that's as maybe, but surely it's gonna be better for eveyone if pride, turning worms, ego, etc. is put to one side, and you just move this sport forward as one.

Grudges & resentment!

All you guys are bigger than that!

Weve been trying to move the sport foward for ages now and just when we think we can move to another level regarding boat numbers etc then WHAM another class decides it can go it alone.

Is there any chance this forum could be used for positive comments!

Merely 'tit for tating', and using it for further broadening the void between classes is non productive.

Being ignorant and not knowing history etc...

I was told we can not race with the other clases because the RYA has the opinion we dont have good visability, and the RYA was preventing us from racing together.

This information was directly from an OOD whom I asked. ( as in why cant we just have one big race with everyone in it...)

( FWIW, the orgainisers seem to think that only V2 and V11 entered the race at cowes, despite having my entry form and despite V3 aparently having paid. )

Unhappy Cowes racing

You guys all race in the best class in the world ( powerboats ) you need to get your act together stop all the bitching.

Drop your petty digs at each other and get this thing sorted or the organisers will stop organising races and leave you lot with raceboats that will be virtually worthless.

We used to have a fantastic fleet of powerboaters and you have reduced it to the state its in now, keep going the way your are and you will wind up with nothing but the Honda series.

They are positive Jon!! We in 2ltr are doing our damdest to get more people out racing and there is no gulf between the different classes, it just seems that way!! All we are trying to get across is that for many years 2ltr - 1.3 have been the poor relations in regard to racing. Now we are the only INTERNATIONAL fleet in the country we are determined that we will race as we want to and not dictated to anymore.

Jon if you think thats causing a gulf between classes we had better meet up and discuss this further!!
