Venture Cup 2016

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water......

Good afternoon all. As some of you will already be aware, we've just started to release details about next year's event. We came over to Cowes to meet with the teams and we were humbled and delighted by the response we received. We've deliberately kept our heads down for the past 9 months, rolled up our sleeves and worked hard to get some key elements in place before we stuck our heads up out of the trenches. The main points now are as follows:

1. Our plans for 2016 are fully-funded
2. We have permissions in place from all ports and venues
3. It will be run as a formal race
4. There will be international television
5. There will be commercial supports for teams
6. The dates for next year's race are: Sunday June 12th to Sunday June 19th
7. The race will run with an opening weekend in Cork, a closing weekend in Dublin and the Wild Atlantic Coast of Ireland in the intervening week.
8. We've been closely informing our relevant UIM national authority about our plans, including full details of how the event is now financially underwritten.
9. Entry fees are NOT necessary to ensure the race goes ahead.

We plan to hold an open meeting for teams in London during November and we'll send you on the venue, date and time once confirmed.

We also were one of three groups who shared equally in the cost of funding 4k video and high-res photography from a chopper at last Sunday's race. We'll be making all of this content available free to the teams over the coming week.

How very kind.

Now enjoy the 9 months of organising and planing to put on your race correctly.

I will not be in Cork next June putting 'Cowes Classic 2016' stickers on the race boats or supporting your efforts.

I was led to believe that one of the chopper was part funded by VC in conjunction with Alan of Mr Noisy. During the CPC muster there was a chopper circling continually overhead, I assumed it followed the fleet up the start. Either it (or another) helicopter was present again between the peers. I bet it got some fantastic footage, which is dearly love to see, edited, unedited, cut, uncut or otherwise!

Good team of professional RYA Officials at the Torquay end of the CTC. Pity all the focus was on Cowes when the Torquay start was just as important as it was classed as a separate race.

Good line-up for the start

Why do you need a cockpit boat ?
Most boats will be open, just run with what you have. A lot less hassle.
On a marathon run I cant think of anything worse than being stuck in a cockpit, for one you will miss all the lovely scenery.

Hi Red-Leader,

The cockpit boat on sketch is allready in build. For this particular boat the main purpose is some national Swedish races, Poker runs etc. It's also A completly new model for us (we build Activator in Sweden).
And maybe It would be nice to come to GB to race some day

Interested in entering?

Interested in entering this event, Haven't got a boat Yet.
Don't worry this could be the answer you were looking for. Already in Ireland no need for shipping and built for conditions found on the Atlantic Coast off of Ireland. What more could you ask for.

Good afternoon teams,

Our plans for the Venture Cup 2016 continue to grow and develop with each week, and today we're genuinely delighted to be able to announce details of our upcoming Teams Meeting. Aside from an opportunity to meet with your fellow teams in a social setting (and get some early Christmas shopping in!!!) this will be a chance for you to hear directly about next year's great race, and to ask any questions you might have. We'll also be opening our entry window on that day, and we already have 25 teams stating that they wish to race. Here are the details:

Date: Friday 20th November 2015
Time: 1700-1900
Location: Embassy of Ireland, 17 Grosvenor Place, London, SW1X 7HR
Attendance: Capacity is limited so it's essential that you advise us in advance of your planned attendance. (We won't be able to accommodate anyone who arrives on the day without being on the official attendee list)
Transport: The Embassy is located at the corner of Grosvenor Place and Chapel Street (the entrance is actually on Chapel Street). The nearest tube station is Hyde Park Corner on the Piccadilly Line (4 minutes walk). This line also serves Heathrow Airport. The next nearest is Victoria on the District, Circle and Victoria Lines (6 minutes walk). Victoria is also a mainline railway station that serves the south and south east of England. Car parking is available close to the Embassy at Victoria Station, Carrington Street, and Audley Square.

We're extremely honoured that the Ambassador of Ireland to Great Britain is hosting us at this meeting. Next year's race will be special in many ways, not least of which being the exceptionally warm welcome all of you will receive in Ireland. This is therefore the perfect location to begin our journey. We do hope that you can make it.

If you wish to attend, please PM me here or email: aidan@ventureoffshorecup.com

Will you be serving the Ferrero Rocher or does Daniel have more competent staff?

You probably have this covered already but hope you are making allowances re the many Marine Natura 2000 sites around Ireland. They can make your life VERY difficult as we found out in 2008! They Green's don't like powerboat racing!
