We're currently all focused on a major media launch which is taking place in Dublin this coming Thursday (21st Jan), but we'll announce the next batch within a week of the launch.

If Any team is w/o boat I have A NEW Activator 27 with Merc 525EFI - race rigged. For sale at a good rate. Can install A ballast tank also. It's the grey Activator in the classifieds.

As Richard Littlejohn would write;

'I am trying to get over me Jet Lag and driving without a canopy with Dredge.

Spent last weekend talking to big raceboat and engine manufacturers who have a positive awareness of what we're doing.

Key site meetings this week.

''Any new teams that you can announce now please?''

'Just details James'.

You slightly can't make the Foley saga up.

Fret not John ....the event has got nothing whatsoever to do with you, so don't be wasting your energies or time on it.

Teams - we'll send out a group email this weekend with updates.

According to a tweet I have seen to one of the teams from Venture Cup, they will be closing entries in the next couple of days, so must be close to the 25. However I would have thought these teams would have been announced by now, with three months to go you would want people to build interest in the teams and personalities. I am sure these individual teams would like their sponsors promoted etc also. Apparently there is an announcement very soon.

Hi Tom - not entirely sure where that tweet came from but entries aren't closing in the next few days. We've just issued a full update by group email and this is an extract from the section relating to the Team Entries
We've currently got 31 teams on our books that we're working closely with for Venture Cup (our maximum entry level remains at 25). Many of these are fully signed up, some are waiting on confirmation of some partnership deals, and some are seeking additional information which is now being finalised. We'll be spending all of this week working with each of them closely and we'll then publish a green (will be there) and amber (expected to be there) list next weekend.

Entries

Hi Aidan,

When are you announcing the other entries, would have thought you would have started announcing things by now, with as you say, many of your 31 teams fully signed up.

Would be great for those following the event and the public to really grasp the sceptical of the different teams entered. Surely from a PR point of view, it would be great for the sport to start promoting the teams and attracting new interest.

Venture Cup

I hate to be sceptical but despite a good launch in Ireland and several promises of further news and updates it appears to have gone very quiet again. I am not convinced! I am no marketing expert but surely silence is not a great marketing tool?

That update was just sent out to the teams and stakeholders. We'll leave it with them for a day, as a courtesy, and then we'll post the details here.

Venture Cup - Updates - March 2016
View this email in your browser

Things are hotting up....!!
It might only be 7 days to go to Paddy's Day, but the focus here is on each of the 92 days to go to the start of the Venture Cup and right now the pace here is red-hot. Site visits, partner meetings, submission of documents, marketing plans and dozens of other critical elements are all coming together to make up the planning of the 2016 Venture Cup. While most of this activity happens out of sight of you - our teams and our partners - it's all essential and there's a large team at this side working away each and every day to make June's event happen. We'll continue to keep you updated with regular group emails, but remember we're always here .....at the end of a phone, or direct email ....if you've got any specific questions you need answering.

SUSSEX MOTOR YACHT CLUB (SMYC)
The SMYC are arguably one of the most prestigious powerboat clubs in the World and we're truly honoured to be a part of the next chapter in their history. Since 1907 they've been right at the centre of the innovation, romance and intrigue which has led us to the modern era of boating. Their list of former members reads like a 'who's who' from the last 100 years with legendary names like:
- HRH David, The Prince of Wales (subsequently Edward VIII of 'Edward & Mrs Simpson')
- Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster (the first Commodore of the Club)
- Lord Wakefield of Hythe (the founder of Castrol Oils)
- Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt (of the famous Vanderbilt family of philanthropists, and the origin of the Venture Cup itself)
- Sir Malcolm Campbell
- Rudyard Kipling
- Sir Winston Churchill
- Jack Dempsey
Under the assistance and guidance of Geoff Kemp, Brian Charnley and all at the SMYC, we greatly look forward to having the beautiful Venture Cup trophy (and perhaps more from their vaults) at each of the stopover venues this year, and for many years into the future.

GETTING TECHNICAL
As many of you know, we had to turn to Welsh tech-tracking-gurus 'Plant-i' for a bespoke tracking solution back in 2014 - something which they delivered with gusto. They're back for 2016 and things are even better. Our overall tech-team has now broadened to include the folks at Swoop Labs down in Cornwall, our own in-house Pete Sweeney, and an as yet un-named key partner which promises to re-define things entirely for marine race tracking. The current work being undertaken by the team involves getting live footage from the raceboats throughout this June's race ....which is quite a challenge ....but if anyone can make it happen, it's these guys. Bringing an awesome live race experience to the public has been a keystone for us from the start and it now looks like some of the really incredible elements might be in place for race 1.

DELIVERING ON DETAIL
We continue to conduct next-stage meetings with our venues right across Ireland and this is shaking out some really great starts and finishes. All of this detail goes into the paperwork and the initial Race Instructions were completed just over a week ago. An extensive supporting document covering all of the additional detail (permissions, plans, etc.) has also been completed and both of these are now with the national authorities in Ireland and the UK. We know that many of you are keen to get your hands on this detail and we'll circulate it fully as soon as all parties are happy with it. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank the ISA and the RYA for their ongoing assistance in this area.

BRINGIN' THE NOISE TO CORK IN MARCH
At the end of this month we'll be bringing 2 raceboats to Cork for strategic activity with key media, personalities and VIPs over two days. One of the boats will be John Ryan's spanking new steed - which many of you will remember as Mikko's former 'All-Black Marathon boat'. This will also give us an opportunity to run the 20 mile harbour-lap which the rest of you will take on (7 times) in June.

TEAM ENTRIES
You asked, so here we go. First up is the GREEN list. These are the teams that have suitably told us that they'll be on the water on June 12th waiting for that green flag to release them into a week of epic racing:
- Boss One. Robin Hyde, Kevin Jackson, Tim Remington
- Team Hendricks. Markus Hendricks & Simon Wood Power
- Birretta Due. Jean-Pierre Neels, Thomas Vandamme
- Hot Lemon. Darran Mellish & David Simcox
- Tally-Ho. Steve Banks, Brett Davenport, Edward Iveagh
- Cougar US1. Steve Curtis, Richard Carr
- PPG Marine. Phil Payter, Richard Carlton
- Vector Martini. Peter Dredge, Simon Powell, Mal Crease
- HTS Perkins. Nick Wilkinson, Matt Wilson
- Team Hibernia. John Ryan, Ant Middleton
- Magic. Terry Mills, Mark Bridges
- Blastoff. Dorian Griffiths, Shelley Jory-Leigh
- Team Name TBC. Adam Brennan
Next up is the AMBER list. This is a sliding-scale of teams which runs from those that've said they're 100% racing but the final paperwork isn't in yet, through to teams that are 95% there and just waiting on some final detail to be agreed (eg: awaiting final shipping cost), teams that we're working actively with to give them what they need to compete, down to teams which have expressed an interest and we work now together to try and make it happen.
- Team Spearfish. Eugene Bari & John Donnelly
- Warpath. Daryl Grady and Ole Finholt
- Team Name TBC. Mikko Oikari
- Team Name TBC. Lance Ware
- Team Skater. Tyson Garvin
- Tommy One. Marco Pennesi
- Team Name TBC. Vassillis Pateras
- Team Name TBC. Martin McLaughlin
In addition to the above, there are an additional 11 teams which we're working with 'below the radar'.
NOTES: The above lists are subject to change. If we've missed anything, or if some of the detail is incorrect please let us know by replying to this email.
