Which open face helmet?

Does anyone have any recommendations for open face helmets, both in terms of make and model and sources?

Thanks everyone!

They are about £370 each and we need four - I was hoping to explore every possibility before committing so if anyone has any others ..........?

Hi! We have both the Peltor and the Stilos, and although I personally think the Peltor's are more comfy (I have an unusually big head) the Stilos offer much better protection for your chin (plus the mic's are more protected from wind). I'd go for the Stilos if they fit.

Good question! when you're strapped into a boat with a roof on it's not the same as falling off a motorbike onto tarmac so I believe that it's a bit different to the how much is your head worth argument and more like what can I get that's comfortable inside a canopy for long periods of time.

Pro-Rig - Thanks I think we posted at the same time.

Sidey and Frank - I'll have a look at the Stilos - Thanks.

Yeh, i think the strapped into a canopied boat argument works, so long as you never use it in any other situation, that would then mean owning 2 hats, which seems a bit extravagant!

Thinking about it though, the value of your head probably ain't that great anyhow.

I've had many Bell helmets in open and full face over the years. Currently using an open face Kevlar M5 with Greytronics intercom.

Fibreglass M4's available in factory orange.

John, we did a bit of research on open face helmets for when we ran the cat, best all round helmet for comfort, light-weight, and price we found the OSBE Tornado helmets ideal. We used this company, and they were very helpful, and were happy to sort a bit of discount. Cheap on price when Peltors are over 300 and these are only 180. Follow the link below:

hope it helps, any more info PM

Hi Will, Funnily enough I had a chat with the importers yesterday and I think I might try one - did you find them comfortable?

Thanks everyone - very useful information and links - appreciate it!

I've got 5! One for the motorbike, one open faced I used for the hydrolift, one closed face I used for open top boats, one for cycling and now new & v. stylish skiing helmet too!

How much is my head worth? A bit less since May 30th, but am hoping to avoid reducing its value any further!!!
