World Championships - Cowes 2010.

A formal request has today been sent to the RYA by the British Powerboat Racing Club (BPRC) for submission to the UIM for the World Championships for Endurance/Marathon boats to be held at the Cowes Powerboat Festival in August 2010.

It is the firm intention of the BPRC that three long distance races, each of over 150 miles, including the Cowes Torquay Cowes, would take place starting on Wednesday 25th, with the second on Friday 27th finishing with the CTC on Sunday 29th August. Open of course to ALL international Endurance/Marathon boats.

It will not be known whether this request is accepted by the UIM until late October of this year.

This should be a spectacular event fitting for the celebrations that will be held for the 50th anniversary of the Cowes Torquay Cowes race over that Bank Holiday weekend..

Really good news and got to have a great chance of getting a decent entry list from home and abroad. Tie that in with the anniversary of Cowes and other classes - should be good!

All the best to getting approval and the long task of then organising the event.

I cannot wait for the world champs, we are definately entering! Our performance at Cowes showed a glimmer of what our Fountain Blastoff is capable of in the rough and the smooth, and we are going to completely refit the boat for next year over the winter, especially a new fuel tank system so we do not have any more fuel delivery problems. We are going to change the c of g slightly and we have some more mods to do to give us some more speed, and reliability.

A very big thanks to Mike and your team for running Cowes 2009, particularly to all the safety boats that were stationed in the rough stuff. Pina Colada needs a special mention....Thanks Terry & Pat.
