Admirals Trophy

A suggestion has been made to have a Poker Run / Cruise to arrive in Charlestown over the same weekend as the Offshore Race 5th - 7th August. The Admirals Cup Event is to be held in Memory of Ian Stirling (The Admiral) so it goes without saying that as many boats as possible from all areas would be appreciated.

This event is in conjuction with Charlestown annual Regatta there is already entertainment arranged and with some forward planning we should be able to get the local docks for overnight moorings.

Ideally this could involve everyone from all around the country with maybe different areas arranging their own routes with all arriving in Charlestown at approx the same time.

If this touches on your imagination please PM your initial thoughts and as usual we can make it up as we go along.

Heres to THE ADMIRAL

Are you intending to turn up to Charlestown by boat or launch from there? I'll need to use up some holiday by then and it could combine quite well as my wife with have finish Uni for the summer so if theres any campsites near by I may be able to join you.
I have never been to Charlestown in my life so excuse my ignorence but is there a public slipway?

The Race teams will turn up and launch in Charlestown !! Those wishing to make a cruise down from anywhere in the country can or they can launch boat by arrangement (probably in local dock or there is a nearby campsite with launching that we can look at !!
We do have a pit area for campers and tents !!

You are talking Charlestown where the old tall ships dock and where they used to export the china clay from? If you are, its a fabulous place.

Bob, do you know the name of the site, that sounds perfect (assuming they allow dogs) and have the thumbs up from the household boss.

Providing the campsite who I've emailed comes back to me and allows dogs then yes. Hoping to bring the boat down and stay all week.
Whats the drill with the cruise/poker run??

If you make contact with Richard Strawford at the campsite see what sort of deals they can do !!

The Idea of the cruise is really for groups to get together around the country and make a weekend run to Charlestown !! If you want to organise a trip to Eddystone or Scillies or something then go for it !!

It's the Yacht Club regatta in Salcombe on those dates - probably the best place to be is Cornwall for that!

Here's to the Admiral!
