Poker run

OK guys, the weather is again looking pretty dire!

This is what we intend doing.

Anyone who wants to bring their boats along in the hope that they can have a run out are of course welcome, but we won't be running an official event on the water. Also, if you were entered to do the run, and are also intending boating over the Cowes event weekend, or racing, your boat can stay stored at drivers for the week tween events FOC.

We will still run the evening party, and poker game. Those who've paid the £50 deposit (which should of course be ALL those who entered!) will for this get entry for two to the party and two hands of cards for the Poker Game.

Additional guests (beyond the two included for the deposit fee) will pay £10 each for entry to the party.

Additional hands of cards can be bought for £20 (per hand)

As the 'fund' for putting the event on would normally attract IRO 100-150 quid per boat (when the entry fee ballance is paid) depending on crew numbers, there is obviously going to be quite a bit less wonga to cover the evening party and prizes from the poker game. the only saving over the full event running is the cost of lunch and moorings which is now cancelled (luckilly no cancellation fee was imposed on us this time!).
So the poker prize fund needs to be reduced a little.

Highest poker hand will now win £200 instead of £400, second prize will be £100 instead of £200 and third will be one bottle of bubbly instead of two.

This really is the best way we can see to get some enjoyment and satifaction from the ashes of the event whilst not actually losing too much money!

We hope this is ok for you guys, it's obviously very dissapointing for us having tried to postpone once in an effort to save things and finding ourselves again facing diabolical weather for the second weekend in a row!

Any questions, just shout.

Understand

thanks for this Jon.

I just feel sorry for Gill, Gareth and all at Drivers (and of course you too Jon!) for being unable to enjoy the actual day yourselves after all the effort that you've put in organising it for us bunch. Blimmin weather!
I've been keeping an eye on the weather, and it seesm to change every fecking hour!
Better to be safe than sorry!
It now means that I'll have to attend the family lunch that I was 'excused' for, but hopefully come along to the party later.
If anyone happens to be staying or coming across from Cowes for the 'afters', we will be running back across the Solent to Cowes after the party...

I'm game for that, although Mrs F may decide shopping during the day is more appealing if the weather is really dire.

"Wishful on the other hand seems to have an ulterior motive for visiting Drivers this weekend ....can't imagine what that might be ?
