Tear up the Thames/Medway

Right been speaking to Barrie Williams and to support Cookee and his charity deed we thought it would be good to organise the mottley Thames estuary crew to meet greet and party with him on the Friday night.

So the deal is this.

We have the event pontoon at Chatham for Friday 29th June at which we will organise an evenings entertainment of barbeque and band in the marquee.

What you need to do. Get your boat together and either meet and welcome Cookee with me as he enters the Medway at Garrison Point or be late being a Friday, either is good.

You will then need be required to admire John and Kevins creation, party on down, get drunk and talk bollocks about boats all night but still be prepared for all the press kerfuffle in the morning and run back down the Medway with Cookee in support.

If enough of you are interested then I/Barrie will organise some form of poker run and general sodding about on boats for the Saturday.

Race boat / narrowboat / ski boat / rubber ring thingy or god forbid rag and stick, we don't care just a bloody good evening and day of fun.

What do you say chaps?

Bloody hell, I'd be up for that, but ,,,,,,,,,, I'll be on route to Portsmouth to meet the ferry to Bilbao.
I do hope this gets the support you all have put in.

Good luck, hope all goes well.

Sounds like a great idea! Barrie has been cooking up a storm down there and we even have a Radio Kent presenter in the boat from Chatham - hope some of you can make it!

Thanks! Alan Priddy is promising a bit of a party in Portsmouth as well so it looks like the South Coast is going to go in a bit of a blur!

Right at the moment we have a fair number of large cruisers, a few skiboats and the odd fast boat from Wallasea attending. 350 berth holders have been invited along and Barrie is bringing his whole family so we could be in for a great night.

My son Jack will be performing along with some of the Williams family so music is well and truly sorted. It'll be open Mike if you can do a bit.

I have my kazoo and Paddie Reilly has his sequinned jacket ready to liven up the party if it goes pete tong. Barrie's offer was turned down on principle.

Some idiot has suggested he do the food for naff all while women with no tops on take money off the hungry for Cookees charity on this leg.

Barrie is in charge of the women bit so I can't guarantee the age of the boobs or

BBC there for the morning and sticking one of their guys on board

So just missing a bit of support from you Boatmad guys really.

Don't make me post links to show why you should be supporting this.

He comes in sometime Friday 29th June and he sets off 10 on Saturday morning for Portsmouth.

The sometime is related to how well I give him directions to miss the sandbanks, windmills, explosive wrecks on the way in.

............. and how rough it is on the way down from Grimsby! The forecast at the moment has the East coast looking a hell of a lot better than the West coast! Looking forward to Chatham, sounds like it will be one to remember.

E-Lites Round Britain Charity Challenge

Congratulations to E-Lites Team Bananashark who arrived to a Welcome Party at Chatham Maritime Marina on Friday night; they set off on their penultimate leg first thing Saturday morning, following a night of revellery, wine, BBQ & song courtesy of Kerry Bobbin and his family. Our thanks to Kerry for providing the merriment and Jack for his excellent jamming session - great to see a few faces from past and present supporting this good cause in aid of Demezela House Childrens Hospice. No. 1 supporter Cameron wore his T shirt with pride as he waved off the Team of 3 plus Steve Ladner from Radio Kent, who was riding with them for the leg to Dover. We look forward to hearing his interview on how he got on with the rough leg down the South East coastline on Monday between 12 noon & 2pm!

Thanks also to Pirates Cave Chandlers & Fogg Marine Cleaning Services for their support and participation and to Chatham Maritime for their splendid facilities and for hosting us for the weekend!

Good Luck to the Team on the rest of the leg and on their final journey back home to Salcombe

Oh an easy fix really.

Got back, having jury rigged electrics and coming home by dead reckoning around the sands. Had to remove just about every access panel in the boat when running so we could see, plugged in at home and blew the whole pontoon to bits.

Floor out and we've got a hole the size of my fist in the port exhaust which in turn has melted an ignition cable back to the battery isolators hence the dashboard smoke. That in turn has melted some of the shore power cables and blown the charger to bits.

Engine room mostly cleaned up yesterday which vastly improved my hangover.

So exhaust on order as soon as I can find someone with a 7" id, Cables on order, Charger on order, new trunking on order and we should be back up in short order.
