2.5 200+ wtd pref efi.

I'm after a 2.5 200hp+ outboard engine. I don't really want anything modded or played with. Its going on a 19ft sports cuddy/boat so not a racer, 40amp charger is better. Controls or any other bits I don't need, and really I still want the oil system lube working as well. EFI is preferable as they are easier for me to play with.

I have a sensible budget that should get me something late 90's or perhaps just early 00's

If you have anything or know anyone who does please PM me.

Still looking _MUST_ have good compression - thanks, doesnt have to be 40amp stator, thats just a bonus as the 16/20 amp systems are so weak that can barely run EFI on its own.

Now you have got me started...

Yes the seller is a complete moron, I called, first he answered I arranged to meet and then when I arrived had no answer, and he has not answered since. All I said is I wanted to take a close look and if it was ok and untouched I'd have it.

So I got back and looked closely at the engine pics again and saw that he had the serial number on the mid section. So looked closely and checked with mercury and its a 2.5 200 1992... Then it became obvious, no extra anodes, different transom bracket casting. It is NOT a salt water engine. Well the leg and gearbox aren't anyway. Then I noticed that the powerhead has no oil injection, its all removed and blanked off.

So I wouldn't trust this one as far as I could throw it. God knows what else has happened to it. I worked all this out before even going to see it, and know that now if I did I'd probably loose my temper with the guy for selling junk, wasting my time (already + 40 mile round trip), and then for knowingly shafting another potential purchaser (that winds me up more than anything else - I can spot a lemon, many can't)

Strange thing is his mobile number points to a handyman/builder/trades person, yet could only view between 1-2pm and his ebay history is full of some fairly expensive boat related stuff, yet its all kept behind a suzuki garage near Farnborough..

This guy wasted a lot of my time this week..

Totally agree, and no problem. Driven to many miles now to see engines that are not what they say they are.

Still looking - someone has batmans engine, but was borderline more work than I wanted, so will keep looking. Plenty of winter left yet!!
