2.5 efi engines
Hi,
Not really great on outboard engines, but I have been told that 2.5 EFi's generate more HP than the 300 Promax X.
Anyone know?

They can be made to, but not as standard.

Not in standard tune. The 2.5 efi is either 260hp (upto '98) or 280hp ('98 on) and the 2.5 Drag makes 300hp, thats propshaft hp. The 300x is I think 320hp at propshaft. However when tuned the 2.5 can make more power than a standard 300x but this will reduce the life span. If its power to weight you want you can't really beat a tuned 2.5, but if you want power and a reliability and your not to worried about a little bit of extra weight (approx. 50kgs I think) then go with the 300x

My new toy comes with twin 2.5 EFi's fitted, and supposedly more power than the 300 Promax X's.
( new toy is also supposed to top 100mph )

So if its the replacement for your secret project and thus not your secret project then you can tell us what it is, unless of course its your new secret project number 2 ?

I thought the Bladerunners were "terrible boats" and so slow too! (esp with under reving pro-max's?!!?!)
How come it's not a "far superior" V-24 / Bat Boat???

EDIT:
Marc, I removed this stuff once today, as it really isn't nesasary, and i'm not too impressed that you chose to put it back in the post!
You run a forum yourself, so I would have thought you'd appreciate my efforts to try and keep things civil between members.
please don't do this again.
JF
Now you are selectivly misquoting me on the forum.
I objected ( strongly ) to the Bladerunner being advertised as a 80mph+ boat, when it clearly is not, and after 4 years of advertising it as such, ICE marine have modified their advertising to reflect the true speed of their boats. So something good has come from my complaints. I wanted to go 80mph+ not 74 mph!
Currently there are few boats that are proven at 100mph for sale under £90 000. The bladerunner RS6 is one of them. It is also suitable for 6 litre racing and this particular boat will be going to ICE Marne for a refit to undo the 'pleasure' additions made to the boat, and to refresh the boat and restore it to full race spec.
I already own a V24 bat boat. It is perfect for racing. Just need someplace to race. Scandinavia next year perhaps?
If you can show me a canopied ( side by side ) 32 foot bat boat that can do 100mph I would prefer it. But it has to be under £100k and they have to accept the Bladerunner as part exchange.....

They've not changed they're advertising at all! - the new 35' Bladerunner is quoted as 75mph but the original 34' is still 80+mph

Hardly think it Ice Marine's fault that your engines were not achieving max revs! Especially as you bought the boat 2nd hand and not through them!

I very much doubt it will be going back to Ice Marine for any work for you to be done on it - given your past dealings with them!

Don't know about a part-ex but it's fairly cheap and I'm sure someone could fit a canopy for you;

Right thats me done with this I've learnt that this forum should be for exchange of usefull/interesting/true info between boating fans (and some good banter!) and not for petty slanging matches. Sorry you feel like you do but there ain't much I can do about it so not going to say anymore!

I believe this one is the actual boat that set the British National record for 6 litre at Windermere. 101 MPH in full race legal form.
I cant wait to take it out and test its top end.

If you want a canopy making then speak to Gav on this forum. I saw the canopy he made for a bow rider. It was very good in fact!
He does fibre glass and carbon fibre work.
Have you heard of JSRE?
