the mould was shipped over from the states in 1989 by a guy called kevin kenny,i had the first one out of the mould,my mate, dave symington at wirral tiles the second.we raced them at new brighton and deeside with limited success until a serious boating accident on brazil buoy, river mersey, wrote both boats off.both could turn on a sixpence at full throttle and literally did with a phantom running behind us coming over the top.four people in hospital, dave symington and kevin kenny in intensive care with punctured lungs and broken shoulders.they never raced again,i bought a yellow ring 21 and went ski racing after that, bit safer.kevin is now in portugal, dave is still at wirral tiles, birkenhead.give him a call to see where the mould is.den.

I was told that they were no match for a Phantom, speed or handling wise.

Look's like my Phantom 20 will be making another appearance at Coniston this year, motor will be running drag heads and avgas this time, just need to find a lunatic to drive it.

The American boats may be fast but the four boats that were built in the Uk are heavy and much slower.

We did run HST's at Windermere Records before it moved to Coniston, fastest was Graeme Wood using a lightweight HST and a cell with around 114mph. I think the mould Kenny had for the Allison was an older design and the concensus was they were nowhere near as quick as an HST or an STV. I don't recall one racing with MOD VP then so I guess we will never know. I remember we saved a bolt in cell for an HST I'll try and find out if it's still around.

What power did that HST have to run 114?

I saw some pictures of an hst with a bolt-on cell! That would be great if you would know where it is. Would be real cool and safer

The stv's should be quite a lot quicker from what i read. Than can carry weight better. If you want a fast HST you can better make it light....

If you can find some pictures of hst's please scan them. That would be real cool
