Cheap Sunseeker!

Hi folks,

I know this isn’t exactly a high performance power boat, but it should top 55mph with a clean bottom, I am advertising this on behalf of my old man.

He is selling his Sunseeker Monterey 27 as a project. I believe it was built around 1989/90. Included in the sale are the Volvo 5.7 271 hp V8’s complete with duo prop outdrives (with power trim). Both motors have just had a professional overhaul. The following is a list of new parts & work that has also been done:


• New bell house shaft bearings and seals,
• New manifolds,
• New risers,
• New coupling hoses to exhausts.
• New timing covers,
• New front and rear crank seals.
• New drive belts,
• New starter motors,
• Both sumps have been welded,
• Jabsco water pumps have been overhauled,
• Alternators have been serviced,
• Heads removed, planed, valves replaced as required, cut & reseated.

The cockpit and cuddy interior is all complete with original helm and nav seats & cushions for the rear bench & sun pad .They are all in ok condition from what I can remember there was only a little bit of wear to one of the front seats? All pretty clean.

Although he is advertising it as a project it is all there, but needs someone with more time than him to refit engines, drives etc.

Still needs engine cooling hoses (was looking for silicone ones), new batteries/carriers. Wiring needs tidying up, new sea coks etc, Dash board needs tidying up, and one Rev Counter replaced. Has had new plugs, oil, filters fitted to motors.


Don Shead designed hull is also in ok condition for its age but would benefit from a good polish up! The bottom has been recently soda blasted and prepared for gel shielding & new antifouling.

Included in the sale is a brand new tonneau cover which hasn’t actually been taken out of its box yet! And a pair of unused alloy beaching legs, 1 new set duo props, other set are fine, all seals and anodes for outdrives.

This would make a good simple project for some one with a bit of spare time. Like I have said everything is there to get her back into the water & pretty much all of the hard work has already been done, so grab a pre season bargain now! I will try and get some pic’s this weekend.
