My Konrads are good for 800 BHP (Petrol), they have the uprated shafts.
I'll need to check the TQ limits.

That'd be your cheapest option, assuming they'd take the power.

Hi Mark,
I think Conrad make a drive specifically suited to low speed diesel torque the NXT was made for petrol engines and as mercruiser cummins has found out it is not suited to low speed diesel torque and have had numerous gearbox and output shaft failures you really need an overdrive transmission between the engine and outdrive to reduce the torque or as Cookee says go with the arnesons.

At 5.8 litre with a max RPM of 3300rpm and a straight 6 it's going to be a bit of a thumper and destroy any drive that isn't man enough. I think V's P1 Hustler had these motors and he had Arnesons on it which were just the job, not sure which gearboxes he was using but it was reliable.

PS the Torque is about 950 lb ft according to the Yanmar website.
The rated input torque for the NXT is 800 ft-lbs so it would not last long with the yanmars.

I would also consider putting the engines in cradles if you're going to get enthusiastic with it as these motors have a habit of snapping bits of the block off when they land hard - The other bad news is they have more torque than the 440 that Vee ran in the Hustler!

Found some information about the Sunseeker XS that raced in P1:

The 38 was considerably heavier, ran with Yanmar 420/440's on trimax drive and ZF twin speed boxes (1:1 in second gear) , it could achieve right around 68
knots. They did do one P1 with 480FPT's on an adjustable levy drive this was
quick (82/83) but ended in disaster, had a horrible tendency to lose grip
in high speed turns.

arneson would be the best option as well as the least expensive. you should not have any compromise if you choose the correct setup. hard to argue with something so reliable and tough especially if the boat is to sit in the water full then there is no better option.
