Yep thats what I seem to remember reading too.

Where was the crack?

Is the transom on a P20 one piece all across the back? I know its thicker in the middle and then steps down in thickness pretty much in line with the sides of the engine well.

Yes, it differs a little with models and intended use, but I think it's usually two laminates (2 x 18mm) right across transom with a third (1 x 12mm) tween longitudinals/knees.

The crack starts from the top/back right hand corner of the transom and goes approx 6 inches across the top and then down towards the well. It was hard to see how how far it went due to the stainless transom plate that also had a 6 inch split in it. My concern was the way rhe crack opend up when you put a little pressure on the leg. I don't think silversurfer realised how bad it was. The guy from Ocean marine reckons it had wedges put in that were then resined in. The transom itself (the thick part) is only the width of the engine well. It could probably be tied in and braced but I wouldnt want to risk it

Probably beyond econoical repair, as to do the job properly you really need to take the deck off, remove and replace transom and refit deck. It'd cost you a fortune in grinding discs alone!

I removed the deck on one of my 24's a few years ago, and it would have been cheaper to have built a new boat!!!

Probably a job best suited for a keen hobbyist, you got much on at the moment Matt?

That's a bit worrying, does that make him as smart as me, or me as smart as him!

How many of these have you looked at (ok not all 21ft). My choice would be "Chiller" very nice bit of kit.
