Mercury 2ltr F1

The engine was new in 2002
Last Rebuild 10 hrs ago
The engine runs 26cc heads therefore runs on avgas
We ran it in F3 Ski Racing for 2 seasons and due to a rule change can no longer run it.

£2500 ono

From an airport/airfield at a guess!!! LOL

I did know someone who ran avgas in an offshore boat many moons ago. The person in question also added octane booster. After the race, the only way to stop the engine was to pull the plug leads and remove the plugs so the engine lost compression. He only did it the once mind you.

Scotty, surely for basics it's gotta be better value to run a 2.5efi powerhead?

Thumbs up

Ahh my old F1!

I bought this new from Nico, as one of the last F1's to come out of Mercury.

Very nice motor indeed.

Can be converted to run on super unleaded but would be serously down on power.

This motor went very well on my P20

102 Ultimate

This is a pump fuel avalable at about 25 BP stations around the country. It has 2% Oxygen, and is a very purte fuel, with a very high calorific value.

It also meets the British Standard for pump fuel and as it is publically avalable in a forecourt it is race legal!

The advantage over AVGAS is it is unleaded, it is pure ( no fillers - it is a white/clear fuel ) and has the oxygenates. So it has about 7% more power in a standard engine. If however, you have a high revving engine or a high compression engine, you get about 12% more power due to the 'breathing' of the engine and its 'mistability' - ie it form a nice mist much quicker than 'standard' fuel so the burn at revs over 9k rpm is better than standard fuel ( including AVGAS )

It also has less contaminants - like ZERO benzine, and burns completely, leaving no unburnt deposits and residue - better for the engine and the environment.

£2.40 per liter
Using roughly 1.6 liters per mile my boat would cost about £230 per race!
