Phantom 16 150hp Mercury 2 stroke V6

Hi,
Im Currently thinking about purchasing a old 150hp mercury 2 stroke v6. I have a phantom 16 speedboat that has never been races or abused. Im wanting opinions and peoples past experience of having this kind of power on the back of a phantom 16? more the merrier? Will it work if i put a bow tank in? (water or fuel), strengthen the transom? Any other options i could do?
Many thanks,
George

My dad bought a p16 for the 150 xr2 motor. Tried it once on there and don't believe it had any transom strengthening maybe a bar across to spread the load but can't remember. Obviously too fast for the previous owner as he filled the front with sandbags. No need really.

I owned a P16 with a 175hp evinrude on the back. No sandbags, stripped out, took the bow tank out and used a small plastic one to further reduce the weight. Was still so stable and predictable. I had a bar across the top bolts of the transom and added approx 25cm x 25cm wooden plates to spread the load at the bottom for piece of mind.
Never had any bother with the hull taking the engine.

It's all personal preference but if your boat has a rear mounted fuel tank i would put that at the front be it a portable tank or a built in bow tank.
