The boat on ebay is Colin Curran's old 'Motorvation' B cruiser.

Tony Donald's boat, the one with the Bellamy surface drives was originally called 'Ambassador Communications' and raced by Will Haycock and I think Adrian Bright. Tony bought it and originally re-named it 'Superluminal' before it was painted red and became 'Team Tanglefoot'. After that it became 'Pink Beaver'.

Well that's probably more than you ever wanted to know.

Colin Currans boat featured in this thread:

http://www.boatmad.com/forum/showthr...highlight=book

PS. it was Tony Cordial & Stan Ford (owner & ex NPC racer) who renamed Ambassador Communications, 'Superluminal', then, as you said, Tony Donald renamed it 'Tanglefoot'

Ah, that might explain why when I asked Tony Donald what superluminal meant (I'd assumed extra bright) at Bournemouth (I think in 96) he told me he didn't know.

What happened to Bob Humphries' 'Plant and Tools', the 25 Revenger SC with OMCs) after it was sold to Peter Berrow's friend (sorry I don't remember his name)?

You mean Dr wotsits boat, sold it to Jason, who still owns it.

twoz called 'Renegade' I thought. Bright red, twin OMC's, or is that a different boat?

BTW,always thought Superluminal meant faster thanthe speed of light, ie: greater than 186,00 miles per second.

When Tony Donald ('Donziman' on this forum) & Brian Pelham bought Superluminal from Tony Cordial, complete with the usual powerboaters garantee of 75+mph, he was less than impressed to find the real top speed of just over 60mph!

(A friendly visit to TC's workshop with some psychological persuasion, ie, walking into his workshop, and locking the door behind themselves for their 'chat', got a little money back for 'the cause')

It took em two years of modding & tuning and blowing seemingly endless engines to eventually get up to the near 80mph they finally achieved.

That's right. Dr Whatsis renamed Plant and Tools as Renegade. Did a race or two and had a disagreement with the OOD who issued what would now be considered a yellow card and Dr. Whatsis never raced again so far as I know.

Just looked up luminal in the old Funk and Wagnalls. Seems it is (or was) a proprietary name for a brand of phenobarbital!

Jason, hmm, reminds me of a funny story....

A couple of years ago he did some work for a "friend" of mine, then sent him a somewhat inflated bill.

Me mate didn't pay it, and eventually received a rather suspicious looking letter demanding payment within 7 days or legal action would be taken, supposedly from either Jasons solicitor or accountantant, I can't remember which. Anyhow, I had a look at it, and said that it didn't look genuine as it had obviously been printed from a pc.

I rang the phone no, and asked to speak to Jason, and a lady said that he wasn't available, i asked who I was speaking to, and she said...."I'm jasons mum".

I don't think payment was ever made!!!!
