Team Purple honda 150 for sale

21 ft Cougar Honda Sport Cruiser mk2
Very begrudging sale of my Honda 150 that has raced, skied, cruised and generally been the most solid and reliable boat I have ever owner over the last 7 years
Build by Kevin Cozens for himself to race in 2004 as the mk2 R2 composites it is unusual in construction as the hull is fully cored making it exceptionally strong and light.
Again unusual it has never been painted so all original gelcoat in kevs trademark lilac.
Always been a competitive boat, racing in the Honda championships since 2004 and later the p1 Superstock 150 class which it won the championship in 2011 and 2012. Runs all day at 53-54 mph, so you can take it racing, but also great for the family day out or a drivers poker run with the kids as it has quite a big freeboard for the length - small cuddy at front, and a very good proven rough water boat for its length based on the Ring hull.
Engine low hours for its age (around 450hrs) heavy duty 225 saddle and solid top mounts ( honda race spec)

Still looks good after all those years, no doubt due to it's construction. It does beg the question though, as to how the boat was eligible to race in what was promoted as a "one design" class.

In the first season of racing, one of the competitors got DQ'd just for moving his fuel tank!

Depends who built them - there were 4 or 5 different manufacturers over the years - the cored ones were slightly heavier, but stronger fall apart..... all the mK1's were cored

There were a lot more people DQ'd for fuel tank fiddles, that and the battery were the 2 biggest cheats - people used to put them on the back transom - was a practice that was stopped with scruitineers checking positions in the end against diagrams. The boats were most sensitive to C of G - you got that and the weight right you were almost their. You could never go fast at the start and fast at the end - was always a compromise because of the fuel burn.... and 0.8 mph was the difference between the fastest and slowest boat in the fleet
