WANTED: merc tiller arm & bottom yoke

Hi all,

I'm after a replacement tiller arm and bottom yoke for a standard shaft mariner 2.5l. Doesn't have to be new- just after a good, corrosion free(ish) replacement.

I've got the arm... you can have it. May have a bottom yoke knocking about too, sure I can find one, or could make a fancy stainless one!!

Thanks mate that's very kind of you! I may be able to save the bottom yoke if needs be so that shouldn't be a problem. Haha a stainless one would be pretty smart. It just amazes me how daft that design is.....i've read somewhere that omc engines use stainless shafts.. not sure if this is correct? But it would make sense to me. I know stainless isn't going to be as good with the shock loading as mild steel but at least it's not going to corrode away to nothing!

When's a good time to fetch the tiller arm? Not sure if ill be calling in to Atec before the weekend...

Erm, well I'll be at my shed tomorrow night so can grab it then, it's not the prettiest, I'll check it over when I grab it, but can take it to Atec or whatever really, up to you.

A stainless shaft wouldn't be tricky or particularly expensive. We could always up the wall thickness slightly to bring up the strength. We could bore out the old shaft from the arm and tig in the new one, or could most likely mill a stainless arm to go with, again considering the thickness to allow for extra strength. I'm sure a good stainless one would be much stronger than most of the rusty old steel ones I see!
