Wanted project boat
It would need to be capable of about 50 knots, be diesel as it is far easier to get where I want to cruise, be good in the rough and have room for me to overnight with the kids and be 26' plus. Anything out there?

Not many options that deliver that without a big budget. Extreme 26? but a bit like hens teeth. Hunton ? but £££s Most 26' plus fast offshore boats with cabins are US built eg donzi, baja, formula etc and are rare in diesel.
Nice diesel Scand dynamic on eBay. Always liked those but smaller than you want and no where near 50 knots (item 151750304277).
The real question is what is your budget. Probably cheapest option is to buy a hull and repower.

Project Cougar
Hi Handy Man,
Think I may just have what you are looking for...
Cookie - Classic cougar US1 38 Situated on the isle of white, has full new grey trim ready to be fitted currently in dry storage. Been in the family for in excess of 15 years. Originally the families Southern France holiday toy. Hull sound but boat needs full running gear as majority was stolen. Unsure to whether my father has retained original engines but if she is of interest would be happy to talk over the phone.
She would re make to be a true beauty again for very little money in the grand theme of power boat "projects". Happy to send pics.
Steph

I recognise that. Wasn't that the one that was sat uncovered at littlehampton for several years. I put a thread up about it years ago. Never seen such a beautiful boat looking so sad. Have you done any work to it other than removing the rot as the interior / floor had completely rotten away.

Thats her, and it breaks our hearts to not be able to bring her back to her former self. We have got as far as stripping the interior (which was quiet rightly rotten) and made good of the floor, she has under gone inspection and is ready full a full fit out. As most classics, you need to invest to reap the rewards - and invest being where we are sadly stuck.
