Xr2 fuel problem....?....?...?...?
I recently bought a ring 20 with xr2 engine. Apparently it's a race engine, anyway I took it out for a spin and within a short running time of good fun and speed it died or 'bogged' down to my disappointment. I noticed that it was gravity fed yet there was a fuel pump on the line at some stage. Also the restricter was still on the line but fully open. Further inspection revealed a dodgy seal on the fuel filter so I replaced it there an then. Still no power in gear but revving out...weird!
Limping back to the quay just in gear but any throttle would bog it down.
Plugs out, - loose to start, grubby and oily but new looking, dumped and changed
New fuel filter on engine and on fuel line. Fuel pump piped in and restricted at number 4 setting , carbs inspected, drained but nothing further than a splash of carb cleaner through the jets. Throttle bodies wiped clean with little dirt on inspection.
Checked spark on all 6 cylinders ok
Can anyone give me a heads up if this fails. I've been told to run a compression test but don't know the correct psi for these engines, any ideas.??

Don't think it is the stator.
Mine stator 'burned over' a couple of years ago, and the motor just stopped like you flick a switch.
My mecanic told me; the sky is blue, fish swim in water, and stators burn over :-).
Sounds more like a dodgy fuel-line to me?. Lots of fuel to rep in neutrual, but not enough fuel to deliver real power.

Xr2 flushing
U can make ur own flushing kit, get some rc model fuel pipe duck tape and a short hose with a connector, mould it round the bullet and the rest is pretty obvious good luck

My ring did exactly the same, it was the stator plate

Yea it's in Ireland. Bought from performance marine in Leitrim. I was meaning to get on to you guys about this engine before the problems had started as the guy who sold it to me recommended your company for any problems I might have. I've been on to him and is willing to stand by his sale so that's fair enough. Any chance you guys would be interested in a rebuild..?

Certainly, I have a few powerheads/blocks here so may be an easier/ more cost effective option depending on how bad yours is. But if its just dropped no 2 it should be straight forward enough.
