I had a Yamaha ProV 200 on the back of a Ring 21E (Simply Red) for 10 years & it didnt miss a beat. One of the best & most reliable outboards I have event owned.
By all accounts the 225 VMax was an improvement on the ProV 200. Fuel injected & counter rotating props ?
What boat are you thinking of ?
