The only part which may help is instead of mixing thinners in,then using a HVLP gun, you could hire a airless spray unit (king graco) which will handle thick paints/ gelcoats etc...

To polish up the gelcoat try flatten with 2500...

To polish up the gelcoat try flatten with 2500 wet and dry with soapy water,
then polish up with G3 then G10, best use a polishing machine as its hard work but gives very good results.
