john,running the motors allowed in m5 is like you having to run alpha drives,std x hights ,you wouldnt do it.
as for affordable you could by 3 or 4 xrs,2.5 promaxes for cost of one ect,verado,175...

mike in m4 and up the outboard problem is less as...

mike in m4 and up the outboard problem is less as 3 litre motors can be used ie 300 xs which runs strong saddles,gearboxs etc and is more suited to racing.
in m5 due to cc only option are production...
