Missed something
Sorry forgot to say you should try to get all bolts though transom by using the second bolt hole down on the saddle if possible .

Hi nasher you should be ok to remove the box section many engines have been adjusted just on the line of bolt holes on the saddle but I would say the bolts should not be threaded in the transom as...

Xl shaft
An XL shaft will be running very deep looking at your transom what is the height from the keel to the top of the plate
And keel to the top of the transom cut out
Is the shaft 25"or 30"?
And how...
