If I disconnect one regulator volts and taco are fine and it makes no difference which regulator I use,I've swapped 2 new and 1 old and so long as I only connect 1 then alls fine....can I run one...

ive got two 1997 150 carbed mercs on my fishing boat and ive got a problem with the voltage on one engine,after aprox 2000rpm both volt gauges go to 18 volts, if i throttle back they go...
